Checking in for two reasons on this thread.

MFLB came in the mail today at work along with the things I am getting for others. Had to wait for work to be over to test it out, plus I was visiting the Orthopedic doctors for my 6 week check up on a broken tib + fib. (see gimp central). Did x-rays, doctor checked out the ankle and gave me the clear to be out of the aircast and walking in regular shoes again. Gotta get used to the 2-equal-length-legs thing again, but I digress...

Got home, got the MFLB out and ready for its maiden voyage. Holy fuck, you guys were spot-on.

As far as the trim question. BHO is the best option, just don't blow yourself up. Only problem is that it's like crack. BHO is pretty much the main reason I had to quit smoking. Once it got to the point that I was making BHO from the primest buds and vaping ridiculous quantities of it, I might as well have been using opium.

DBS how did you vape your BHO? Just curious. I have a volcano and have put a little BHO on top of some weed but it only vaporized ok. Thought there might be a better way.

Da Buddha vape. But I would drench the buds with oil. The heat had to be high. I also had this portable metal vape. Can't find it online anymore, they must have quit selling em. Worked great for oil. Smear the oil in the chamber then rotate the chamber as hitting it with a jet lighter.

BHO is probably the worst suggestion for someone who has never made hash. It is extremely dangerous.

Dry Ice hash is cheaper to make and much safer. Butane Hash Oil is no doubt a great finished product, but you can achieve the same results with Iso alcohol. Buying bulk amounts of Iso is also a whole lot less obvious, then buying a case of butane.

Bubble bags are also a good option. Amazon has some cheap knock offs, that do the exact same thing as Bubble Bags.

This is more than a half, and it's vacuumed packed (notice how it is one big lump), there is also another bag that maybe has a quarter in it, depending on how compressed it is. Easily an ounce there. Way more than what I would ever consider putting in a checked bag. There is also some sort of janky label on it, saying something about Prop 215.

I agree that checking that much that brazenly is stupid. At most that's a zip. I wasn't trying to start a fight, so calm down. It just struck me as weird that someone who professes to be such a weed head would think that was 2 ounces. 3/4 maybe.

You can NOT get the same product using ISO. Not even close.

Is Butane dangerous? Yeah, especially if you're a dumbass. You gotta do it outside, and there shouldn't be anyone else around, to ensure some stoner doesn't space out and try to light up a joint or a cig and kill you.
There is something fun about having a bomb in your hands. It's kind of a rush. Of course, the real safety conscious have set up systems where they can do it all hands off.

There is no other method to receive as high of a quality product. There just isn't. ISO extracts much more of the chlorophyll resulting in a product with lower levels of thc and a flavor that isn't nearly as appealing. Bubble bags are a time consuming mess that yields very low quantity of varying quality product.

Nothing beats BHO.

I tried ISO and the flavor was horrendous. I probably soaked it for too long, because it really was chlorophyll overkill.

I made an extractor that held an ounce or so of buds. I got a good amount of oil out of that. For trim, not as effective, because like you said you can't do that much at once. I had another tube I made that would fit about 3 ounces of trim, and it didn't work nearly as well, because you had to push so much butane through it, before the oil even started coming out.

I gotta stay away from this thread. It's like a tease.

I have a great hash story.

One summer I was in Northern Spain, San Sebastian, playing a jazz festival. While walking the streets, I met some random hippie kid. Asked him about scoring "something", he says "wait here". 3.5 minutes later, he comes back and fills up my brass container with the best hash I have ever seen. Golden, soft, delicious. Works fine with the whip, bag system is no good and a waste of herb. MFLB works just as well and is portable. Ariser has a portable version of the q also but i have not used it yet. IMO the volcano is pricey for a reason, they have the system dialed, and you will make back the extra money in how much longer the volcano conserves herb over the q. That said, I was a MFLB skeptic until I got one for myself, once you learn how to control the heat flow (steady and slow) over the trough it is the best out there behind the volcano that I have tried.

if you can swing the cost, the volcano with out question reigns supreme, nothing comes close. Wish I would sack up and buy one.
