    Steamboat/rabbitears conditions

I am heading up to steamboat this weekend (nov19)and was wondering if the pass had enough snow to get some turns in but mostly to get a tour in and show some friends how to use a beacon and bc equip.
thanks for any beta. I am not familiar with the area and I was just looking for a quick easy place to get to to show the newbies some bc.

I'm also interested in Steamboat BC conditions... I just moved to Steamboat for the season earlier this week... took a drive up Buff Pass and realized the city road maintenance ends pretty early on the pass. Just wondering how much further you would have to go to find decent skiing? Hiking distance or is a sled necessary? Thanks!

I drove rabbit ears yesterday and saw a few people nordic skiing but as far as bc conditions its still a little harry. but for touring you may be fine. Personally tho I wouldn't waste my time.

    hope that helps a bit

You can skin up the road to the switchbacks for an early and easy ski. Sled skiing galore up on buff...weather has been spotty to say the least lately. Slight snowfall currently with high winds yesterday topping 124
MPH at mid mtn...looks possible for a foot of fresh up high
