    Need help with this...

I took this from my bedroom this AM. It was SERIOUSLY pink/red, but the pic came out washed out, color-wise. Taken in full auto on an EOS Rebel, Tamron 18-270, 1:3.5-6.3.

How can I capture the colors better? longer exposure with a tripod?
    Other tips?

It's a metering issue. With your camera in auto, it balanced the light for the entire scene, which overexposed the sky and the top of the mountains. The proper technique would have been to meter for the bright mountain tops. If anything, you need a shorter exposure time (at the same aperture).
This is the worst pain EVER!

Funny, I took this picture this morning.... good enough, but I wish it more accurately reflected what I saw out the window (quality is shit because I copied it from FB). Must have been a good sunrise up and down the Rockies today.

Steve, the histogram has a lot of empty space on either side. Bringing up the black point will deepen the colors and make it look closer to what it really looked like.

^^^ It's not really as washed out as that picture looks; the compression on FB killed it. At home it looks much better.
