    MPC #74 Foliage 10/5 -- 10/19

I think this one needs absolutely no explanation. You know what the photo has to include.

Nevertheless, here's what I find so neat about foliage:

For most of the year we get up before sunrise or stay late for sunset to catch the colors that explode under the magic light that results as the sun cuts through hundreds of times the atmosphere it does at noon. But for a few weeks each year, warm vibrant colors are draped across our landscapes all day long; no need to wait for the magic hour! What a treat for a photographer!

But don't let that discussion deter you! Let's see your shots! I know it's a little late in the season for some of you across our northern tier, but I don't think anyone is out of the game yet.

Straight up leaf peepin shots. (Edgnar)

"Found Stuff" in the leaves (I think this looks like a Traffic Light)

Waterfalls framed by a ring of fire

Human and/or action shots taking place in a sea of color (Fuzz)

The clash of seasons as the departing summer intersects a gathering winter. (Mathematics)

Other favorite foliage shots of mine: snowliage (snow on colored leaves), campfires and foliage, roads and foliage, landmarks and foliage, and, most importantly, YOUR FAVORITE FOLIAGE SHOT I HAVEN'T MENTIONED.

I see NO REASON for anything but exceptionally high participation, and I anticipate an impossible task of selection on my part. I think we all love foliage photos. GIT IT!

    RULES:
    1. Photos must be taken within the time period of the contest.
    2. You may submit 3 photos during the competition.
    3. The contest moderator will choose 5 photos to be voted on.

    5. In the event of a tie, the contest moderator will have the deciding vote.
    6. Winner will be the contest starter/moderator for the next comp.
    7. The winner has 3 days to start a new contest or 2nd place becomes the new winner.

Well shit, this is crappy timing for the Rocky Mountain mags. Peak leaf season was the last 7-10 days, and the weather's turning to shit starting on Friday so chances are, there's not going to be anything left. I've got 30 killer shots from last weekend, but nothing coming up.

Ditto. All of our leaves are going to be blown off the trees in the next couple of days. If only I had a wee bit of creativity ...

Edit: Not meant as a complaint. It's a great contest topic.

ohh, leaves they are a changing. And with Ullrfest coming up, I'm sure us Easties can come up with some dope shots.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

^^ I took some pics today over the lunch hour. Playing with the slow shutter motion blur thing with the background colors and one of them took. F22 ISO 100 at 1/60.

Weather's turning shitty around here too. Maybe Saturday might be good. Best shots are when it's sunny, and the next clear, sunny day isn't in the forecast. Guess I'll see what I can come up with this weekend.

All sorts of ineligible goodness in the Fall Bike Stoke and Enchiladafest threads.

Gonna try to get some SNOLIAGE on the way back from grass/rock skiing manana.

I'll join you in the "pissed at myself" party. I was lackadaisical about getting a job done last week and ended up having to work Friday and Saturday to finish it up. Friday and Saturday being the two days with decent weather this week when I could've been up in the mountains shooting larches at their peak color. They'll be pretty much done by next week and it's going to rain the next 5 days...
