Ya I saw some tracks in the bottom of it and heard it got skied. Also saw a bunch of guys that looked to be going up to the ice east of the Y with ice gear and snowshoes on sat. Lots of variable skiing conditions to be had out there today. Best skiing was arround the shady/sheltered, mid-elevations slopes.

There are no immediate plans for road closures or avalanche control work in Lt. Cottonwood Canyon this morning. It is very likely however that the Hellgate-Superior section of the canyon road will close later this morning, and a good possibility that a mid-canyon closure and artillery control work will be necessary this afternoon. Due to that possibility there will be a Backcountry Access Closure beginning at 6:00 a.m. 2/28/12, for all areas north of the canyon road between Closure Gates B and D (Maybird through Superior). It is anticipated that all restrictions will be lifted by 3.m. today.

    Thanks,

    Brad

We are done with control work this morning and we don't foresee the need to do more today. The backcountry restrictions in effect until 3pm have been lifted.
We got naturals out of Little Pine, White Pine, White Pine Chutes 1,2 and 3. From control work we got additional avalanches out of Little Pine.
The pattern is looking active the rest of the week. Chances of additional closures are high. We will update you as quickly as we are able to do so.
    We'll keep in touch.

UDOT has plans for control work in Little Cottonwood Canyon tommorrow morning (2/29/2012). A backcountry closure will be implemented tonight at midnight from Gate B through Grizzly Gulch until control work is finished tomorrow morning and the road is re-opened. Anticipated re-opening of the road is 830am.

    Thanks for the help!

that Tom Wolf 1940 speil went right over my and my partners skibum heads,
    but so did the pow

did find ourselves in terrain I used to visit a lot when my risk tolerances were lower.
Much like early days plenty of old crown lines on rollovers you wouldn't consider all that steep
skied stellar almost like winter in the wasatch should be

hell the sun even poked out and shined on sum skibums ass

plenty of cold smoke white in the green

hasties ski cuts and test slopes reveled pretty good bonding
still finding grap on the rhime crust at old new interface and some sluffin on steeper exit slopes
good shit mag pleasure to share bc turns w/ you

yo luff johnny wasatch says practice them kickturns they shut them lifts down just as it gets good

Close to 100" base an 4% blower all week. Never doubt Utah delivers
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

    fkna ridgetop winds were nukin
not to hard to get fractures and things moving on steeper slopes off pio
not a lot of cohesion in the slabs/windloads yet or in that particular hood
wouldn't bet on that being the case tom. given the continued blow and continued loading

be safe gonna get interestin again

UDOT will be conducting avalanche control work in Little Cottonwood Canyon and Provo Canyon on March 1, 2012. A backcountry closure is in effect for terrain on the north side of the road in LCC from Gate B through Grizzly Gulch from 11:59 pm tonight (Feb 29) until 8:30 am on March 1. The road into LCC will close tonight at 8:30 pm. In Provo Canyon the avalanche control work will be in the Bridal Veil, Slide Canyon, and Lost Creek drainages from 9:30 am until 11:30 am. Please stay clear of these areas in Provo Canyon from 6:00 am until 11:30 am on March 1.
There is the possibility of avalanche control work in Big Cottonwood Canyon on March 1 as well. Please check the UDOT avalanche control work website tomorrow for BCC information.
    Thanks,
    Brad

Rare sighting of a tunneling toucan in the highest reaches of BCC.

VERY windy before the frontal passage, made some very stout wind slabs near ridges.

Quiet day in the heart of the sheep pen today. Great skiing between 7k-9k on north aspects. Definitely some wind funk in open areas. Trees skied the best.
