Seconded, it was a lot less touchy when we went out Wednesday morning then it was over the weekend. I'd wager it's going to take more then 1 big storm to wipe this out.

Is it snow weight that does this? Temperature? Melt cycle? How do you scour out a deep buried touchy layer like this? Just add a lot of weight and hope that triggers slides down to the layer?

Yea if shit slides off that layer then that layer can get some sun and won't be so faceted any more.

The more scenario that is more likely to lead to widespread stability is if we just get enough snow to compact that layer and bury it far enough below the surface that no skier is exerting much force on it to trigger a slide. It'll be a while.

We go through this cycle every damn year it seems. Who cares. Nordic skis are perfect for situations like this. Completely avoid any temptation and just go get in shape on the skinny skis.

    LCC/BCC Afforable Condo Inquiry

Totally realize this is a weather thread but i searched and couldn't find anything helpful elsewhere (and thought this was the most relevant thread to post in without starting something new).

Me and 4 buddies are looking for moderately inexpensive lodging via condo or hotel for 10days Feb 23rd to March 3rd. Everything i found online was super expensive in Solitude and Brighton. Are there any places in LCC or BCC that you guys might be able to recommend that are more affordable? Everything i was finding was about 85 bucks a nite per person?

Dont need anything super nice, just something close to the hills and affordable. There must be something cheaper around right?!

Please PM or post here with any information. Thanks so much in advance!

Anyone heading to BC near Alta tomorrow or anytime? I'm new to the area and living at the GMD this season. Would love to get out in the BC with some of you.

Powder snow skiing is not fun. It’s life, fully lived, life lived in a blaze of reality. What we experience in powder is the original human self, which lies deeply inside each of us, still undamaged in spite of what our present culture tries to do to us. Once experienced, this kind of living is recognized as the only way to live–fully aware of the earth and the sky and the gods and you, the mortal, playing among them. Dolores LaChapelle

SFB, I appreciate all that you do for the maggot community, one of the true selfless maggots on this board. I also appreciate the fact that you showed me around Solitude on a bluebird powder day two years ago. However, don't you think it would better serve the purpose of this thread if you posted your own observations in plain, coherent English? I find that your posts are very hard to comprehend and often resort to sounding things out phonetically in order to understand them. I believe it would benefit the thread and make potential safety observations more visible to those who do read this page (Even if you only alter your language on this page, that would be a great change.)

If not, thats cool too, I can't make you do anything. Just something to think about.

Much better. Wait, no it is not.

I second MWM and his request. I too think you might have great things to say but you certainly don't come across as a "Smart Mother Fucker" you come across sounding like a meth addict with dyslexia.
