EC Straightline Adventure - Who would be interested?

Hey guys, for those of you who don't know me, I work and ski at Stowe. I talked to Gordy on the phone last night, and to the SSD at Stowe today. It looks like if the interest is there, we may be able to have a Straightline Camp at Stowe for the EC Maggots. Gordy is thinking 2 or 3 day camp, I am thinking Late Feb. (it has to snow by then, right? )

    So, who would be interested?

Yeah that would be sick but we don't have the terrain that Alta has over here so what would the camp comprise of. I mean Stowe is fun but there is only so much to do? Would it be mostly back country up Mansfield etc? With these conditions the way they are now, it's gonna take a long time for the snow to fill up all the woods.

I guess that would depend on everybody's legs and the conditions of course. I know we don't get the snow Alta gets, but we do get snow. I know we don't have thier terrain, but we have some terrain here. Talking to Gordy it sounds like a lot of the stuff they did inthe Alta camps would work out just fine inbounds at Stowe. Video analysis of steep bumps and stuff like that. He said they had a 3-hour avy class with beacon drills and what not. I'd like to have a shot at that even though there will probably never be a major slide on Mansfield, I'd like some knowledge for trips outside the EC.

Time it with the mini, and people might actually show up (to the mini). First weekend of March I believe. Money would be the key issue for me. A two day camp around $200 would be hard to say no to...

I would be in as long as nobody minds a stinking hippy freeheeler, I think I can keep up. Price is an issue as well but I would do all I could to make it work. As for terrain if it was with Gordy I may be open to sharing a few zones in the area. The whole thing would work best with small groups in different zones around here given the lack of snow and space, things get tore up fast. And we need it to snow first.

It would be totally sweet to school the pros on the ice and tight trees, to show them what the EC is all about and rock their worlds.

    Unfortunately I'm not good enough.

In theory, this is something I'd be all stoked up to do. But I can't until I ski better or I will kill myself. In the meantime, I'll live vicariously. So I hope you do pull this off...and take lots of pics!

I second the idea of bundling it with the mini.
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

The trade show in Pa is Feb 23-27. The week before is out too for a lot of us as that is the Presidents Week break from school for the mini mags.

Very interesting. I'd possibly be in. There is a bunch of terrain that could serve as decent training grounds but, we need snow. Most of the terrain that would be worth getting to on mansfield or even off the back of Spruce is not skiable at this time.

    Thumbs up

I'm in if he allows the under 18 crowd do it, unlike the ones in Utah. And Gordy, if you read this, check your emails and PM's already.
