Well on Fridays I work in Golden so I can make the quick drive up to the base and have a look. I only live about 40 minutes away anyways so it's not too far and it's the only mountain around gonna be open. Pano is opening next weekend so maybe I should just wait for then but I have never skied Kicking Horse and it's always been a dream. Just wanna make sure it has good conditions before I go.

Yesterday they told me that you could pick up your season pass from the Visitor Center between 9am and 2pm on Thursday. Guest Services will be tough as it's all a bunch of punter Quebexicans and Aussies working there.

Nothing new in the forecast other than a High settling in for the week. Perhaps a good weekend to tour once the hill gets skied out. Rock skis are not needed but it's KH so you may find a rock or two. I'm out for this weekend as I have to go and do xmas with the fam. Looks like it may be dry for the old Whitetooth powder friday next week too. I'm going to burn some skis on Sunday.

If anyone sees DougW in the gondi lineup at KH tell him I couldn't make it. Sent him a PM but don't know if he'll check the forum before hitting the road tonight.

Went for a walk up in k country today. still relatively thin. Spooky whumpfing while setting a new skin track. haven't felt collapsing like that in a while. Id say the much favored avy report (compared to that new garbage being posted further west) is pretty spot on with their descriptions. Have fun out there this weekend.

Pretty good conditions on the Parkway right now...

Surprisingly deep snowpack (about 1.5m) and very uniform as well. No sign of any of the usual November crappy layers. At least where we were. Very surprising and exciting.

    ^nice.

LL is skiing really nice. I've seen less snow on grizzly gulley in Jan.

A border triggered a slide in West bowl today. Apparantley was bootpacking out, triggered it and turned around and came back in bounds.

Yeah, I know there are some really touchy spots out there. That's why I was so surprised at what I was finding. Bow Lake area seems to have about 50% more snow pack than Lake Louise area right now. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Agreed, we're off to a great start at the Lake.

Mentioning the westbowl trigger was totally unrelated to your post... general comment more than anything.

Anyone trying to head up to Jasper or anywhere past Sask Crossing on the Parkway may as well ski the day at Bow or the Lake tomorrow. Slide came across the road around Parker and they won't be working on it until the AM. Parkway is closed until at least late afternoon Friday.
Move along nothing to see here.

Here's a couple of minutes from a couple of days earlier this week. Some early season warm up cliffs and a few crashes.

Any estimate as to average HS in K-country? Looking to dig a few pits tomorrow and do some beacon practice (a few turns would be nice too) and it would be ideal to stay as close as possible to the city

Question for all you Bow Valley types (and anyone else that can help), anyone have an in at Dr. Heimstra's office. My wife just got her ACL surgery date and I am trying to find out how to bump it closer. The date is April 10, last appointment we were told January. This is getting annoying her original injury was January 15 so by the time this gets done we would be looking at 15 months of crap.
