nuking on the icefields parkway since last night. Be careful if you are driving around there.. the road is full of snow. Didn't stop much either day since the snow was so good. Thanks for the beta shorty and t2c
Saturday on Dolomite
Sunday on Bow
we're both standing up here

Parkway is always like that and for the most part stays that way until spring. Just another note, they do not plow after evening and generally do not start again until around 7-730am for anyone thinking of really early storm starts and it only really gets done secondary to highway 1. After hours it's not unusual to see only 1 or 2 cars the entire stretch from LL to Jasper and i've done a few times in really shitty storms with 0 cars seen.Be careful if you are driving around there.. the road is full of snow
the munchen lufthansa flight landing around noon today:
The starboard window pssengers must have been shitting themselves.
i'm sure the plane, as big as it is, shook and jumped so much that everybody was shitting themselves.
The snow stayed good above GE all day. It was warmer and wetter than usual, relatively speaking, but didn't affect the snow adversely except for the ski out from GE down where it was a bit shitty. Lots of good skiing and good snow anywhere higher, though they still have fuck all terrain open. It was puking when I left at 4.30.
We, the RATBAGGERS, formally axcept our duty is to trigger avalaches on all skiers ...
does anyone here know who has the sled - 2006 summit for sale in golden?
I'm mildly interested as it is on my shopping list.

nuking at the horse Sunday. Saw the fudge packers er I mean boot packers waiting in line for the gondy, wonder if they ever got up with those winds. Got 4 runs in on the lower mountain (i.e. just getting up into Rudi's bowl) and it was nice and deep. Your don't have to worry about hitting anything and it was snowing about 5cm's an hour up there between 10am and 4pm. Next weekend should be fun however the lower 1/3 of the mountain has experienced serious rain and terribly wet snow that sticks to the bottom of your freshly waxed skis. Yuck
Snowing pretty good at LL yesterday. Roads in were a bit sketchy. Winds didn't seem too bad but it was enough to shut down TOTW for a couple hours around noon. Still sharky but overall really good for November. Trees are fun.
T2c and Shadam, If you guys can get your passes the day before at KH, do it!
Customer service and ticket windows don't open until 8:30 a.m., and usually only two people working the desk inside and two windows open outside. Then everyone in line has a skier card to get checked etc and it is so slow.
Last time I was so far back in line for the gondola when I finally got a day ticket that the first skiers were arriving back at the bottom before we loaded.
There's usually someone in line by about 7am at KH opening day, sometimes earlier. I know, because it's sometimes me, and I still often miss out on first gondy because I'm scooped by a group of locals pushing their way to their one friend at the front.
And they will auction off the actual first gondy, most likely.
Goal: ski in the 2018/19 season
8:30...fucking brutal. I guess i'll get it on the way home fuck. 10 hour drive to LL, detour to Golden, back to Banff. Gross. I heard that they are not doing passes at the visitor centre this year, but then the same person who told me also thought the north pole was actually a magnetic pole placed by man...yeah that's right...you know who you areAnyone know for sure, about the visitor centre, NOT the north pole LMAO

Time it right, customer service is only open to 4 p.m. this week, according to the person I just talked to on the phone.
Is the direct to lift LL card (i.e. just charges the visa for the lift ticket when scanned) equally direct to lift at KH, or... ?
That guy was pissed! He was trying to yell something when I went past him. Mex, you should be watching where he is going when he's behind you...
That run is always scary, but Sat it was just plain stupid! I opted for the 4 ft right beside the trees/fences with the occassional straight-line approach for most of it. Some little kid almost took out Mrs FM, but he was like 8 and struggling himself so what can you do. I swear it was like a skiing through the Revy's back 40 glades, except it was icy and the trees were moving in front of you!The end of the day making our way down from the gondola was pretty ridiculous. Newbies, Gnar-tacular shredders and average joes all looking for some room to make some turns on the same white ribbon. Some people decided to walk down as it was getting sketchy as some people were straightlining through the masses. The scariest part of the day....
Anyone planning on driving up early to KH on friday from Banff or Canmore and want to split gas? I would be staying till close.
I've got an s. outback.
Sorry, not a cool enough car.
Anyone with an Audi or Porsche want to split gas?
Actually, the first joke I thought of involved Shadam and a different kind of outback, but I'll save that one for later.![]()
Hey! tons of people (dykes) think the outback is cool.
Also g'luck fitting skis into a porsche. . .
Lake Louise was very good today and actually unbelievably good considering it's November. They only got a few inches yesterday by the looks of it (nice "heavy snowfall warning" weather network) but there was lots of great skiing to be had.
Hit Ptarmigan first thing (no avies) then Larch poma and Lynx. All were good with some sections of untracked boot deep (it is LL in November after all, lower your standards) and the whole west side of Grizzly gully was good again with some nice creamy untracked sections. The "Shoots" area was good but thin still. Backside was also surprisingly filled in but still sharky nonetheless. Three rocks were hit but in places where I wasn't the least bit surprised. A few edge burrs and a base hit not even worth filling.
You could tell it was a busy weekend by how bumped up a lot of the areas were but in contrast to that today was DEAD! Probably the quietest I have ever seen the lake. Ski straight on to any lift.
LL crews are doing a GREAT job of putting snow fences up fricking everywhere to catch snow. These storms will make a great base for the rest of the season. Too bad most of the steep stuff off the back slid. Hopefully it starts filling back in (minus faceted base).
