Opening at Kimberley today was great! Super smooth pow all over.

Much thanks to P.Blz and his lovely wife for letting me tag along this morning. I know I would have missed a lot of the best snow without their knowledge.

Took some POV and might post up a little, but T2C has set the bar so high! It appears that unedited vid with footage of people putting on gloves, looking into the camera lens to see if it's running, etc is not going to cut it this season.

Not likely with one WROD open...

Was there on Saturday as my brother in law convinced me to join him in taking telemark lessons (no, I have no intention of switching). An analogy that struck me about telemarking is that if skiing is golf, telemarking is like golf in rollerskates. More complicated with less stability.

Sure it was fun, and looks cool when done well, but it left me thinking what's the point? Props to those who do it well though.

Anyway, there must have been like 1000 people there all skiing that one run, 2/3 of them under 12. I have never seen anything like it. Only got hit by one out of control 10yo (185lbs > 50lbs). He ate shit, total yardsale but was fine. Bunch of sawed off Hermann Maiers flying around everywhere. Would have done an epic TR but my camera battery crapped out in the morning.

Has anyone been getting snow? (other than Calgary).

    ^15 @Nakiska - 7 @SSV - 2 @LL - 5ish in Banff this morning

    ...........................

FYI all, Crowfoot glades is officially tracked out, well, except for the big open slopes which people were smart enough to stay away from.

First post but I thought I'd mention there was good snow to be had at Black Prince today. First run was boot deep untracked. Despite it getting busy pretty quickly we managed another couple of laps in more untracked before heading for home. Given the number of tracks laid down it's probably not worth going again until it snows.

Black Prince, the best frontcountry Calgary crowd back country experience to share the social experience. Oh yeah....didn't realize it's Sunday...I thought it was Tuesday for some fucked up reason. Gotta stop doing that.

Nah....we were at the Delta Lodge last night and while it was bucketing in Cowtown there was nothing in K Country.
Woke up to a few cms but nothing spectacular.

Skied SSV today which was decent. Divide a bit scant in a few places.

Good choice and likely set you back a bit.

Okay, first attempt at posting a video. Not very creative, and I did something wrong as there are a few judders/cuts in the footage.

I followed the YouTube tutorial pages. For about a two-minute video of 720p the upload to YouTube was 100 MB, is that about right? I know still photography but this video thing is Greek to me.

Cool thing at Kimberley is all the gladed areas that have been opened up in recent years.

    Eldo,
I didn't notice any stutters or anything. You will always notice faults that just aren't a big deal to the watcher, that's just how editing goes. Looks like it transcoded nicely too, I've used programs that made it look like absolute crap post-edit. Keep it up

I should really do a season edit from KH last year. All this pissing rain in Ontario is gonna make me nuts. January can't come soon enough

looked fine to me. got the same feel as my most favourite mom&pop ski hill down south -- higher density snow, nobody to ski it

in fact, i think i have identical helmet cam vids from there, including the cones at the chairlift off-ramp...

Bollocks. Yesterday I completely blew out my edge & sidewall on my first run of the day. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced deal on powder skis at the moment? S7 type shape preferred (JJ, Bent Chetler etc).

Shitty, don't suppose you would be interested in a pair of Flyswatters? If so let me know.
