I think it was the bridge just up valley from the Grizzly slidepath (that's third-hand though)...hadn't heard if it was something coming down off Grizzly or off Cheops/hourglass zone.

Despite the amount of traffic that heads up there Connaught has a way of making a person feel really small some times.

So anyone have any stoke photo's or video from the weekend? Post up.

Ya where's the stoke you fly larvae? Don't make me post awesome mcflattown stoke. (We got 0.75 cm of pow pow btw! I dug a pit and its below threshold, so I did not rip it.)

Edit: Fuck Connaught creek. Mcflattown is where its at.

more shredding the GNAR. No the skiing is not great right now, but the skating is usually such a short window, and is just so good right now.Click image for larger version.

Looks like the skiff of snow buffed everything out again?

I didn't even know ice could get that clear and still support someone's weight. Pretty rad. Good work. Makes me wish I still owned a pair of skates.

Apparently the small one over the creek behind the hotel.
Flying the Bluehouse colors in Western Canada! Let me know if you want some rad skis!!

Okay you Banff locals. Time to actually drive past the turnoff to SSV or Louise and hit up places like Marmot. (Or KH, Revy, Whistler, etc.)

I've had some great days at Marmot, including the year they opened the quad and it snowed a metre in the days leading up to first ever chair. Also had some vaguely memorable evenings at the Athabasca Hotel. (Does it still exist?)

Admittingly I've also been at Marmot when it was -30 and rock hard snow, but, eh, them's the breaks, and variety is still the spice of life.

Driving past the Scumshine turnoff check...KH check, multiple trips to Rogers each year check, Revy check, week booked in Whistler and maybe one more trip out there after that check. The only thing I have to do is hit Marmot, and sadly I have NO excuse to not have skied there yet as I have passed it on the way to, and from work on several occasions in the winter.

Cool photo's Mntlion...I might have to try that some day, looks like fun.

up at Burstall today, lots of snow there made for some DEEP trailbreaking, but not many areas to have fun. It would be fun to go up there with a photog and slut for some photos on all the micro features around there though....

Alright! That's what I'm talking about.

I remember one winter we skied at 17 different places during the season. From Marmot in the north to Mammoth Mtn in the south. October to July. That was a very good year.

Not Rockies related, but I see Mustang Powder has a 135 cm base already, which is awesome for mid-November. Could be a worthwhile pre-Christmas trip.

If you're heading up there ski safe...
Was up there this weekend. The party behind us got dusted Friday on the bridge about halfway up the connaught. I didn't see it but my partner did. He wasn't sure how big it was. He heard it and saw the powder cloud, it came of Cheops. That was around 1:30 or something like that. The wind picked up around 11am, so we got a few laps then headed out. Where we were skiing (small treed slope) things felt pretty good and nothing was moving. No slabs or sloughing. It seemed the sketchiest part of the day was just getting up the drainage.

Pro thing is my joke... Trying to establish the fact that there is no real scene here and people are super chill. I will keep updating when things are good. Make sure you Banff bitches let us know before you make a Marmot assault so some of us can show you around.

Hmm, probably not. From that PDF:

"please get your order to the CSC as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Remember, most or all of the
passes will be sold out by August 2011"

^^^snowed about 5cm's in town yesterday. Snow stake is at about 57cm at the bottom of the Stariway chair. Pass is really fun right now, may get up the hill at some point this week to check it out.

Close to 5cms in the Jasper townsite this morning. More up top I'm sure. Looking good for a bony rocky upper mountain opening for the weekend.

Been thinking about another pre-xmas trip this year, would be cool if we can get some of the group together for another couple of days up there.

Any rumors on bonus weekend? Maybe Dec 2nd or 3rd?
