[QUOTE=Boonshackle;3430386]Not to derail where this thread is going or anything, but I'll be in Blairmore for the winter. Any mags out at Castle or Fernie? Bringing touring and camera gear with me. Turtle Mountain looks really cool.[/QUOTE

Find some one with a sled. Lots of great turns in the pass area. Most of which you can't get to with out one.

In regards to jetskis post, the 15 from yesterday should help. Another night like that and the upper mountain could be a possibility.
Move along nothing to see here.

^^^^ Web cams show cats in the upper mountain so I'm thinking 3-5 days for the usual bony opening. We should just PM each other Weibo as I think we are the only Marmot skiers here... or that care. Its just not very rad here and there are no pros
I did see a level 3 instructor on slope yesterday destroying the groomers.

^Please keep posting Marmot info here...I have never skied there and am waiting for word for when it's worth the 3 hour drive to come up there rather than spend the time driving to Rogers Pass Seriously though, I would like to come up there on an epic day....when it's better than stopping some where along the Parkway, or better than driving an extra hour west of there No serious this time...I DO want to check it out and appreciate the updates. Just waiting for a base Sorry, I can't help it...FUCKING turrets GRETZKY

I ski marmot once in a while....

Added: If anyone wants to drive up there I could meet you. There are a few touring spots I've been skoping out. That mountain just South of Marmot basin looks good.

yep , i went to norquay today instead , looks like it was the right choice. Wasn't uber icy but still pretty shitty. If anyone is into rails they do have 6 rails set up and no one hitting them.

I confess. I rode the WROD at louise today. And I loved it. Until calgary showed up. Up until then it was fun though. It has been a while since I was on the boards so it felt good to just slide around. The line got really long around 10:30 and it did not fade but everybody was woo-wooing so it wasn't that bad.

And yes, patrol was busy with all sorts of shenanigans happening. Just like last year and just like next year.

No photos for this TR/blog entry.

Wow, that looked like a total shit show. I can only imagine what scumshine is gonna be like next weekend (if it opens).

Was hoping for some pond skating tomorrow but guessing the new snow will make it a 'challenge'. Oh well, guess I'll just have to drag the wife into some ski shops instead

Just wanted to pass on some beta on the Pass. This weekend a friend of mine got skunked and toured out as the avy conditions were so bad. Another group of people I know were up there yesterday and got dusted by a "class 3" on the bridge on ski out.

If you're heading up there ski safe...
Flying the Bluehouse colors in Western Canada! Let me know if you want some rad skis!!

    Not sure if serious...?
If you enjoy skiing the Rockies hills around Banff you would love Jasper. No crowds no pros and when it does snow mid week there is no mad rush to track it out in an hour. Short runs but a hill that rewards you for poking around or following me. Lots of rocks and a very shallow snowpack keeps you honest and keeps things interesting. Its sort of like a mini Lake Louise... without the pros
Post up if you ever make it and I will try to show you around.

I for one really would like to make it up there sometime, therefore I appreciate the updates. Been saying I'm going to make it up there for a few years now, but haven't. Sounds like it's off to a good start, so maybe this is the year to finally make it. Only skied there once before, and was far from a good skier then so didn't really maxamize the hill, but with what I can visualize of the hill, I can see where I would have a lot of fun now

I skied a weekend at Marmot last year. I liked the hill and it had a lot of good looking terrain, but vis was shit and I couldn't poke around as much as I would have liked.

    keep the marmot beta coming,
    one day, maybe ...

as for the slides at the pass,
early and late season seem to catch out many with much experiance.
