thanks FM. i thought there was a thread and someone here had some good beta. my lame ass search turned up nada. i've added that to my faves for future use. on this one i was helped out by a mag in seattle. picked up my contour from him a while back, and as i figured , a super solid dude. worked out for the both of us but i'll be trying that package express in the future no doubt. back to your rockies deep pow slashin. its raining here. iso to treeline and windslab above. working on the rv to get on that side of the pass ASAP!
Whoa, the Lake looks awesome!
Yep the Lake was fantastic today. One of the deepest days I've seen there, and a lot more than expected, so a nice surprise.
Anybody know if they ended up opening WH2 or Brownshirt?
Lake was not good today, might as well not even come or if you do just stick to the groomers, specially larch, those trees are never any good![]()
Fun day at KH, always nice to ski right onto the gondy on a deep pow day, a rare treat. Not too nice to share the gondy with the liftie kid that hasn't washed his gear all season, kinda burned the nostrils with that sour, acrid smell. Hockey equipment would've smelled good compared to him.
I might be able to get to the mountains tomorrow. I can either hit up Kicking Horse or Louise or Sunshine. Which would be the best bet?
[edit, I gave this it's own thread, but then I put the pics back here too!] My trip from last weekend to Fernie and Castle.
Fernie. MustangSVT and my friend.
Vis was so-so in the morning
Almost invisible raven on a tree top
Next day, heading to Castle.
It's somewhere around here
There it is!
Mt Haig from Desperado. My first run with Wilf- a Castle vet I met in the lift line who toured me around. Thanks Wilf!
Great time!

anyone know what was happening on the highway to LL today? Ended up turning around and going to SSV, line looked long and not moving.
Hear there was an accident on the highway in between Banff and Lake Louise, not to sure on details. In other news yet another class 2 avalanche in West Bowl today. Skied the debris with my beacon and didn't get any hits which didn't surprise me because nobody in there has any gear.
^nice thanks for stoking the thread Spark....
...just another typical day of 60cm HST skiing on 93S?? Can't recall where it was exactly. Damned memory.
Sentinel seems to be enjoying himself
Did a lap, and drove up the road to hit another line.
March madness continues.....

Strong wind yesterday and today - check
natural slabs ripping out all over the place over the past 48 hours - check
lots of fresh snow - check
first blue day after a storm - check
"considerable" rating at alpine for today - check
A look around at ridge tops today would have shown a lot of snow being moved. Lots of near misses lately, hopefully they stay in the near miss realm.
2.5 to ground in spots carried 300 metres. Lucky.
The write up from MCR on it:
On top of everything...I guess you can add noticing moist snow before dropping in.A skier triggered size 2.5 avalanche occurred on April 1st in the feature know as “Miners Gully” near Canmore. The slide stepped down to ground in some areas with fracture depths up to 160-170cm. The snow was reported to be moist at the time of the accident at the top of the gully feature which is an E-NE aspect. Luckily, the person involved remained on the surface and suffered no injuries.

Kicking horse, 3:45 pm. Three tracks on this slope, two mine, and one ski cut from patrol. Second run on those demos, they really clicked for me.
(almost) Got first tracks on T1, was the first one up but took too long fiddling with shit. It was really good. Whitewall was deeper though.
Bad news coming out of Panorama tonight. Hope for the best.
