Still puking at the hill when I left at 4.30. Things were refilling last half of the day. Call came over patrol radio that we broke 250cms of base at 1400 today! On track to break the all time base record of 275 set in 06-07. Still puking up there with no signs of letting up. Such a fun week!

I might fit that bill. Haven't done much ice in the last few years, but used to do a little bit, up to about WI4. Not sure how I'd fair on WI3 in ski boots. I assume it would be seconding? Maybe a short ice outing to see how it goes beforehand? Should be good to go on the skiing part.

Yeah, can't say i've ever tried to climb pure ice in ski boots but it should be pretty straight forward...plastic mountaineering boots and all that although i've only ever used leather. Definately would be a good idea to get out first to see....i'd probably just want to tag line up the skis rather than have them on my back. Maybe a lap or 2 on something like Grotto, it's been a few years since i've been on ice but used to do plenty and typically climb a shit ton through non-winter. It's a really aesthetic looking line that's probably not been skied or climbed, i'll see if I can dig up some pics to send. I don't mind leading at all.

Sounds good to me. I'm solid on rock so no concern on my rope work, etc. Just never done a ton of ice climbing. Always preferred my precip to be hitting me in the face from pow turns over dripping on my head climbing ice. Getting out on Grotto would be good. If it's comparable to that, I'm sure I'd be fine. If it's more like His or Hers, I might have some trouble in ski boots... Worse case is you set up a pulley from the belay and drag my sorry ass up there.

I have no intention of trying either of those in ski boots and horizontal points which fit my ski boots lol.

Maybe I should have said will have trouble, not might. Sounds like we're on the same page then. Quite intrigued by this...

Snow changed to rain at the base of Kimberley a while ago, but still white a couple lift towers up the hill and temp is now dropping again.

Looks like rain at the base of KH too. All which means Fernie probably got wet up to Bear at least.

Wasn't quite rain, but definitely heavy snow. Blower by Catamount mid though...

Come here. It won't disappoint, skied Louise yesterday and while it was good, here was many times better.

Ya sometimes I don't know why they even stay open some mid weeks. Glad they do. I was checking out that ALTA ski stomp line cut thread and I swear there are more people in line for that chair than will be on all of Marmot upper mountain tomorrow. I know it doesn't snow a tonne here but there is very little competition for fresh tracks. Only classic under the chair lines and the fun cliffs, but other than that it will be freshies all day tomorrow!

I am sure I can make a few "snow quality testing" laps. No clients, just office work and Wrangle stuff.

Fucking eh, I keep hearing all the complaints about the low snow all over the US and yet above the border I keep getting some of the runs of my life over and over and over again. Let's hope March is setting the tone for the rest of the season.

Ya shitty season for some in the U.S. I don't brag much cause I live in the land of very pointy rocks. Pretty much a pair of skis a year if you are doing it right. Man some years we don't even really get going till the spring.

Shhhh...if you tell the gapers who've already packed away their gear for the summer, they might acually show up for the best part of the season in the rockies (actually it should be the Rockys, but I digress).

10.3 cm's in an hour between 4am and 5am at KH, seems a bit suspect...

Ok, with the amount that it's dumping at my house right now those numbers are believable. Now reporting 16cm's in the last 2 hours at the hill. How could I ever doubt RCR?
