I never thanked you for that, but I'll accept your gratitude right now for being in the Southern Hemisphere when the goods get delivered to the Canadian Rockies.

I'll be back to ski 1 whole day, two weekends from now... any chance you can leave for work during that period to return the favour?
Goal: ski in the 2018/19 season

It felt like SSV got tracked out faster than usual, specifically GE.

Anyone else get to witness the gongshow attempt to open the south side chutes. 20-30 people running up the side of the mountain to the boot pack trail. Only to find out they were not going to open it.

Fuck no, and as proven for this season my leaving to work has 0 effect on weather.

WTF...where are all these people coming from? Is it a holiday some where? KH, LL AND SSV?? Weird, so spoiled from rocking straight on to the chair every day on weekdays.

Who was at the Lake on Lhasa's today?? Yellow jacket.

Nice post Peters. Glad to hear you made it out okay. Moments like that sure can focus your perspective. Glad you focused yours in the way you did. I would "like" your post, but I have no idea of what this "Facebook" thing/place you speak of is...

^almost forgot to PM this to you again....might as well share it here too.

So for any of you traveling in back country terrain, heuristic traps are some thing to keep in mind just as much as anything. From my experience the human factor can be a major issue when the group dynamic is wrong.

Also don't forget to brush up on you beacon skills in one of the many beacon basins around...you might be suprised with what your partner can't do but practice makes proficiency.

The slide that closed the road at sunshine is the biggest i've seen there, came down way outside the usual path ripping up mature timber:

Edit: (that's only a small section of it)

Sweet pic. Crowns on damned near everything between Banff and Louise including some of the road cuts and mellow slopes and some in fairly thick trees.

That looks about right. Like a bunch of ants all just sprayed by Raid trying to scurry away...
I knew it was a gong show, but that puts an interesting perspective on it.

I ussually ski this with people and crawl though . Spooky and i thought we should probably let er rip.

SSV has been insane Monday being the best. Big drops were sent and tons of faceshots. We were photo slutting Monday today and tmrw which was kind of shame but at least the photogs will have epics i suppose.

From what i hear the dive probably wont open tmrw . When it does it should be epic and haze epicer ( i said it )

Howdy.... Been a while thanks to the office anti-tgr filters...

Sounds like the masses finally believed all the marketing posts, saw that the sun might come out and took the day off work..... For once I made the right decision (I still haven't gotten over choosing SSV over Castle on that deeeep tuesday last year) sooooo much fun up there yesterday

Anyways, some amateur stoke from yesterday on Goats Eye:

the fun part is, twice more will claim "first tracks down whitehorn1" than the number of people seen in the video

Nice vid, dig the tune too

Lamothe- was really expecting you to be on your ass, looking upwards after those huge faceshots. That's what always happens to me anyways

Having never been on Wild West at SSV, I am curious to learn how does one get there, and do you ski all the way to the gondola base above the ski out? Is there any recommended paths? I don't have any avy gear either, I assume you want to have shovel and beacon with you if you're heading out there. Is there any mandatory cliffs that have to be taken also?

I guess I'm sorta hoping I'll be able to catch a ride down that valley with a TGR'er sometime if I get my gear together, specifically someone that has already been down it before.

Looking at the Dive webcam from my cube..... looks like all the galaxy chutes slid eh?

Can see the toe of the slide right into the fan..... Not sure if Dive proper is getting wind-fucked or if there's some crowns in there [EDIT: Just clicked refresh and dive proper has slid....] The wife was on GE and says Fat-boy area looks like it's run to ground too?

    Anyone got any better beta?

SS Chute opening sounded like a gong-show..... Although it did clear out the West leaving some private laps for the wife!

^that definately looks like a pretty decent sized debris pile down on the heli run area. Hard to tell from the pic but looks like a bunch of debris at the bottom of some of the propers also...looks kind of wind fucked too. Glad you posted this as I can take the pay to ski at SSV for a day off of the option list as it's pretty much the only thing worth paying for there.

looks like line selection is going to be crucial off the bat. looks like only the bre-x side is left stable

ss chute opening was good, the bootpack up helped space out the 20-30 people at the start of the line. tons of sharks out though, had to be light on the feet.
