While I could generally care less about the ASP, there is something awesome about the world's best congregating amidst the shitshow that was Teahupoo today. Sure, some of the modern ASP's beachbreak venues are punishing, but no other spot brings out the masochism, voluntary or otherwise, like Teahupoo. Here's to stormy, punchy upsets. Pumped for tomorrow's circus.

No shortage of punishment today apparently. Raimana got worked right off the bat. The contest site streamed a few hours of lousy tow-footy. I didn't see it, but hear that Bruce may have ridden the heaviest wave ever. Didn't need the ASP's nod to leave his mark, that Bruce. Seems just slightly odd that Shea/Kelly would've tweeted Maya's details. She's a monster, she'll be just fine.

Is Maya G that good of a surfer? I mean, she's decent and all, but I've never thought she was in the league with most of your big wave chargers. I'm not trying to trash talk her, but it seems like they tolerate having her in the lineup because she's a hot chick, not for her surfing. Thoughts?

I have no idea but at least mentally she is at that level. It looks like there was a lot of room in the line-up yesterday and not that many takers. She went were not too many guys would have gone. Being hot is just the cherry on top!

I guess I look at balls and stupidity differently. Then again, she has been doing this a while, and she's still alive. I look at Dorian or Fletcher, and no doubt they should be out there. However, if one of them died, and Dorian almost did at Maverick's, I guess that wouldn't change my opinion. They definitely bring it there. My litle iPad wouldn't stream the events from my Nica perch. Looking forward to recaps when I get home.

And, for the record, she's smoking!!
