NZ Clubbies web based series pt1

A lot of you know about the NZ club fields and a few of you have been here and fallen in love with them.

For those of you who don't know; the NZ clubbies are small fields built by collectives of people who simply love alpine mountains and riding. They've worked hard to construct drag tows up valleys and peaks all around Canterbury's stretch of NZ's Southern Alps. They are complete with huts that sleep and feed many.

The history of a lot of these fields stretch back to wooden skis, with the original tow lines walked in by teams of people like an anaconda snake paraded in the Amazon. Yes, that took a few days.

That spirit is still there and everyone is welcome. A hundred people is a busy day and you'll have made some great friends by the end of your visit.

This is skiing without commerce or groomers - a beautiful thing for sure....

That's always hard to watch this time of year, I miss Craigieburn so much!!
Looks especially good considering what's happened to Squaw Valley the last few years, the millions of people.

I don't think any video or article can really give people an accurate feel of skiing the Clubbies....its one of those things you have to experience being a skier or boarder. There's a common saying about the Clubbies...'you're not really a "skier" until you've ridden a nutcracker.'

The New Zealand club ski fields are an inspiration and source of motivation for Mountain Rider's Alliance.

Love the nut crackers and long drives on unsealed roads. It really lets the cream rise to the top.
