Anyone here do anything at Cascade Mountain?
Anyone here do anything at Cascade Mountain?
I drive by it half a dozen times a year.
"I smell varmint puntang."
I have never personally been there myself but I go to school in Milwaukee which is just a quick hike there. People down here prefer that over the other southcentral icehills but I personally would head up north if I were you. Possibly check out like Indianhead or Blackjack or if you are up for some actual imitation Western Tree skiing make the hike to the tip of Upper Michigan to Mt. Bohemia.... by far the best the midwest has to offer!

Actually northern Milwaukee. I go to college at University of Milwaukee but originally live in a metro of Green Bay.
Cool. I went to marquette 98-02.Originally Posted by nrthface234
That's awesome, my best friend is at Marquette for pre-med.
yeah, very fortunate. Living outwest is yet another plus for me to finish up school so I will have money to make the move. Not sure if you have heard but Granite Peak's A.K.A Rib Mountain has expanded a shit ton and added "BackCountry" and "Chutes", I still have yet to convince myself that Wisconsin skiing is worth $50 dollars yet though so I couldn't say how pathetic there expansion really is or isn't....
I grew up in the Howard Suamico area. Went to highschool at Bayport. That city has changed so much since I left.Originally Posted by nrthface234
Yeah it totally has. I am from just south of there (DePere) and anyways Bayport like 2 years ago I believe just built an absolutely huge High School and spent a shit load on it.
I drove past it after it opened when I was visiting my parents. They bitched about the taxes for the new school so I had to see it. The damn thing has a circular copper roof and looks like a college campus. Of coarse with the area fast becoming a rich suburb I guess I understand why they went so extravagant. I was told it is (or was at least was at the time it was built) the largest school in the state.
Yeah I believe you are right actually about it being the largest school in the state. Im not sure how long Thornberry Creek Golf Course has been around but that is where all of the new housing is going up. They are outrageously nice and the property value there right now is sky high.
I have a cousin who skis at Cascade alot. He's scrawny and has Fujatives with S914s on them.
Any skier from WI worth their weight in brats knows that Tyrol Basin is the shizzle fo rizzle. MWAS fo eva!
ROBOTS ARE EATING MY FACE.
One of my friends went to Bayport I think, graduated in 2000... If any of you are ever on the western part of the state, look me up. I go to UW-Stout, at least for the next couple months.
Also, Granite Peak does suck, at least when I was there. The 'chutes' were filled in because they blew so much snow...

I was supposed to go to Granite Peak this year but have been sidelined for probably the rest of the season due an ankle injury. I was up there this summer for work and was surprised at all the runs. At least compared to when I used to bring groups of people to then Rib Mtn. during college.
heh... Yes, I knew both of them, though was friends with neither. The panty raider was one of the only guys in the interior design major here and I sort of knew him through my roommate (same major). The mailbox bomber actually lives close to my parents house and his band practiced just down the road.
I went to school in Houghton, MI (say yah to da U.P., eh?). You've gotta go check out Mt. Bohemia. It's a pseudo-ghetto operation, but it's worth it. Theres some great powder to be had, trees, and cliffs, all in the midwest. Find cheap lodging in Houghton - it's about 45 minutes from there.
The "chutes" are almost always filled in. They did the same thing on all the "double blacks" at Whitecap. Blew huge piles of snow at the top center of all the runs and then figured out that they couldn't groomer on them to move it. Absolutely brilliant.Originally Posted by crashnburn'd
