This foliage season had ridiculous color in the northern part of Vermont this year. Usually the soft maples turn bright red first and the leaves fall off before the later turning sugar maples (orange), and birches (yellow) complete their turn. This year there was no strong wind, heavy rain, or deep cold to knock the leaves off. So all of the trees still had their canopy leaves on at peak color at the same time. This is a rather rare occurrence.
