I have a gamut of skills, from gear sales, to ski teching, to barista, labour, truck driving, childcare, you name it. I twenty three years old, native of New Mexico, and have lived in BC off and on for the past 5 years. A former student I broke the bank and the current exchange rate is a kick in the pants (to boot). An avid snowboarder, I to suffer down south during La Nina, and can almost taste the steep of BC as these summer months role by. Please keep your ears pealed if your favorite Auntie runs a cafe in Nelson and needs a winter worker, I am your gal.
Check out the resort websites! Revy, KH,Nelson and Louise are probably hiring right now. Red mountain and Fernie should start pretty quick. If they haven't hired all the fuckin aussies yet Panorama's a sick (underrated) hill with a good park. It definitely needs more women too. There's a few heli or BC lodges that hire too, especially if you are multi-talented (cooking, guest services). Rodger's pass (between revelstoke and golden, incredible touring) hires cleaners for the highway crew and the hotel, that get to tag along with the parks and avy crew all season.
Just some ideas, I'm currently scrambling for work too.
I'm in the same boat!! I can do ski tech, boot fitter, ski instructor, retail, bar work... i think its a pretty crowded market. I'm just hoping to get something when i get over there in a few weeks. No luck applying online so far.
