    Crap can be good!

Nothing like chowing down on crappy food and taking in a crappy movie to bring out the best in humourous complaints.

Went to a Chinese buffet where the eggrolls were soggy and the chicken balls rock hard, and then went to see Mystic River whose sole purpose seems to be to provide a forum for dramatic masturbation and "powerful Oscar-calibre performances."

And yet I had a great night. Go figure.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and, every now and then, its nice to sit back and critisize things that don't matter),

Wow, I've read some great reviews of that movie. David Denby in the New Yorker, in particular, absolutely raved. But it sucked, eh? Bummer.

Well, sucked may be a little harsh, but as I said: sometimes it's fun to pick things apart.

My little mind didn't like it. Hop over to the Music, Books etc. forum for my random reasons.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and killing time on a Sunday afternoon before heading out to see Journey),

I saw Mystic River last week. It was an okay movie--not as good as a few of the reviews hyped it up to be. Sean Penn was actually the best actor in the movie, by far, which surprised the shit out of me, heh. (He reminded me of DeNiro.) Kevin Bacon was fair, and Tim Robbins was annoying.

The worst part about the movie was the Clint Eastwood score. OMG, it was horrible. The same 4 notes the whole movie. Duum, duuuum, duuuuuuuum, duuuuuuuuuummmmmm! Bleargh.

I also saw The Secret Lives of Dentists. Very pessimistic about marriage, but I liked it a whole lot better than Mystic River.

whenever i ask my boss at work a question his first response is always,

bossman- "listen, everytime you find yourself in this situation just ask yourself what journey would do, thats always the answer"
basom- "so your saying i should put on some spandex pants and rock out?"
    bossman- "you got it kid"
