The search to recover our friend Paul Melby (a/k/a "the missing skier at Crystal") is starting up again now, and volunteers are needed the weekend of June 25-26. Crystal Mountain has posted details and all volunteers who meet the criteria are welcome. As you might know, Melby was last seen fairly early in the afternoon so he could be anywhere on the mountain, and covering it is an enormous task. Even if you didn't know Melby, this is a great chance to give back to the community.
Lots of folks will be camping out in the base area all weekend. Please come up to help if you can. It's physically and mentally exhausting work, but it's also spectacular to be surrounded by the peeps you know would be out looking for you if you were the one missing.

Looks like a bummer task but very important, i am sure the PNW mags will step up big time.

Yeah, I've been pretty quiet the past couple of years, lame, I know. Melby went missing March 1.

One of the Crystal pro patrollers found Melby yesterday. It's a revival of sad news, but a good thing so everyone can move forward.
