I was beginning to get anxious about being so far from the ocean here but can't wait to ride this thing (and subsequently fuck up myself and my board in the rapids following it)!

Nice stoke, although my connection is pretty slow. Can you fix that.
As for the knee board look for an epoxy one, or spend $60 on a costco foam fish. Not quite a knee board, but at 5'6" and 22", I am sure you can do something on it. And it will not get destroyed in the rapids. As for you not getting destroyed, can't help there.
