Holy SHIT 6 FEET!!!! At least this will give me a good base for when I return in May.....

BRINGING HEAVY SNOW TO THE TAHOE AREA. 2 TO 4 FEET OF NEW SNOW IS
EXPECTED IN THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH FRIDAY...WITH UP TO 6 FEET OF SNOW
POSSIBLE IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. STRONG WINDS WILL ALSO DEVELOP
LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY. THIS WILL PRODUCE
AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...AS WELL AS BLIZZARD
CONDITIONS...ESPECIALLY OVER THE MOUNTAIN PASSES.
PERIODS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE NEW YEARS DAY WEEKEND.
I have Friday off, and 4 hours of comp time to burn this year. So I can either take Thursday AM or PM off. WHich is it gonna be? I can come in at 7AM, and skip out at 11. Or I can hit first chair, ski til 12:30, and be at my cube at 1:00. Drive time in blizzard to Squaw = 30-45 minutes. But with 90 MPH winds and 3+ inches/hour, will anything worth sking be open (KT?) Thursday afternoon? What about Friday?
Furthermore, will Saturday or Sunday be the day? In years past, if we REALLY get 6 feet up there, they won't be able to even open anything until last Saturday afternoon or Sunday...right?
I know, I know, I'm lucky to even get to ski here and have my job. Believe me, I'm appreciative. I have to tell my boss by the end of today what I plan to do tomorrow....rrrrrrr.
tough call mang....your right, all this snow & wind is going to make getting the mountains open on time pretty damn tough. If you can take the time off on Friday...then maybe that would be the better day? tough call.
my guess is maybe thursday afternoon (but doubt it). so i would bet on friday, still some flurries, wind dies down and you get the deep stuff, plus they are able to actually open some of the mountain.
