The thing that I don't like about the Canyons is you have to walk about a quarter-mile from the base to get to the gondola - unlike like other Utah resorts that have lockers near the lift(s), the Canyons is a slog at the base. I like the Canyons - when it has good snow... It used to be called Wolf Mountain (closed) and then it was called Park West (also closed). Varied terrain and some nice steeps. I like Brighton, but the only knock on it you could be skiing Alta/Snowbird 30-45 minutes earlier - Solitude is parallel to Alta. But on a blower day, if you get there early and go up - it's sweet. I have skied Snowbasin in two-plus feet of pow - great terrain, decent steeps, ideal, no people. But I like Powder Mountain better - because of the snowcat (or snowmobile) rides on Ligthning Ridge... and it has a nice down-home feel, like A-Basin, Alpine Meadows, Bridger Bowl, Loveland, Alta, Mt. Rose, Alpental, etc. I really like Solitude - Honeycomb Canyon and the Summit chair, but the catwalk from Honeycomb can be dodgy & sketchy, but it's a lot better than three years ago, when the catwalk took you to the frontside of the mountain at the base. Good powder in the trees...
