Whew, just got done reading the forecast discussion again. It's looking very good for Wednesday on. I've already made the powder alert phone call to my cousin in Colorado. Looks like there will be plenty to go around with the multiple slow moving systems lined up. I'm very glad I'm getting back Thursday, and not doing anything dumb like staying in Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl.
for those of you that frequent sunset and rocky point after storms:
sunset has a consistent very weak layer about a few inches down right now. after the storm comes in and leaves there will presumably be another 1'-2' of unconsolidated snow on there carrying 5-8% water. if it comes in any wetter things will be worse. this storm is forcasted from the south and winds may be high. that will put much more heavy windslabs on the north aspects (like sunset) and will likely overload that slope. the weak layer is several inches thick in most spots and will collapse if messed with too soon. i can't speak for any other N facing slopes, but this one will likely hold until it is brought down by a slough from the top of the slope or someone traversing into it.
this may not get much exposure here so let your friends that frequent that area know.
