Worst POV of Year? Watch if you want to feel really good about yourself

okay, so I've been debating the morality of putting this up, because it's from a relative. Gunit once joked that I was from Iowa, which I am not. However, my cousin is, and he just moved to Colorado,

and bought a Gopro, because he saw some of my footage... I apologize and take full responsibility.

as compensation I present what may be the worst POV of the year:

literally, everything that could ever make you loathe GoPro (and the mid-west) in one web-edit, well done CUZ!

please only reply if you have a truly witty remark, there's too much potential in this video for merely mediocre insults.

or if you want to watch him fall in the middle of the course leading to the pond-skimming, and then watch him almost drown until the dude tells him to stand up (in the waist-deep water), then watch this...

    enjoy!

Great song choice. The Eurythmics really add to the surrealness of moving through the woods at 2 mph.

Let me be the first to say that chick in the one piece in the second vids beginning. Hawt

Eurythmics? Really? I won't hate on the footage... if it gets him stoked, so be it. But the song choice.... c'mon now.

Shit, I was watching these in class with the sound-off, so I was wondering wtf all you guys were bitching about. I turned on the volume and I swear to God I vomited on my keyboard from laughing so hard.

personally, I like to turn off my Gopro when the four-year-olds start zooming by at light-speed...

I would have assummed, especially after watching the pond skim fail, that we had a victim of trisomy of the 21st chromosome.

We were all gapers at one point, though. Maybe a few years down the road he'll be able to laugh at how ridiculous this is.

Maybe, but not many of us have floundered in 2 foot deep water in front of a hundred people.

All it needs is a 30 second of reel of sponsorship logos to kick it off.

Well, I WOULD award him with the title of "Worst POV of the Year," BUT I'd be remiss if I didn't nominate this little gem from our friend, Halon73.

I present to you..."Loveland (Pow Pow Day Part Duex)":

DAMN! The pond skim fail really sets the mood right off the bat! I was super stoked for some truly epic free-failing! ...And what better ambassador than a painted and tainted pre-bull-dyke for your boy from Iowa?!? Is that what happens to your view of the world when the majority of your sexual relations are with cows and sheep? (How am I doing here? To much? ..or too fuckin' late?) Add to that the witty word play with the song title and plot of the video. It took me a while to catch on to that zany Iowan humor but I gets it! That's some knee slappin' shit right there! Thanks mang! Tell your cuz to keep the fucking highlight reel going for us! BOOOOOOM!!!

    And I'm out...
    I can't remember...

Tell your cousin that's not what people are refering to when they talk about pillow lines.

Hearing Eurithmics makes me want to kill someone. Your cousin almost drowning in the pond almost satisfied that urge...

The only thing missing from that flat-ass footage was a million flat-ass washboard bumps. I guess cuz didn't make it over to MJ that day?

I guess this answers the question about what kind of footage is going to be captured by 99.9% of the "strong intermediates" I see sporting gopros at the resorts.

Taking out the snow fence was $$ though!

Halon 73 has an interesting choice of beacon attachment. Not only is it not inside his parka against his body, it looks like it's attached to his pack. But I guess if he had it were it belongs no one could see the coolness of his BC expertise.

I watched the pond skimming first, so the tree skiing video was a huge improvement compared to what I was expecting after seeing that. You should seriously tell your cousin that riding on someone else's tracks through the trees when there's plenty of fresh around is kind of missing the point... and he won't get any better doing it that way.

The truth is, there are probably much worse videos out there, although hopefully not posted for public viewing. I remember seeing this guy at Breck last year wearing a helmet cam while turning back and forth across the entire width of a freshly groomed intermediate trail (I think it was the very wide Northstar run, to give you an idea of how ridiculous this looked). I can only imagine how that video must have turned out.

But whatever, if he's having a blast, good for him.

If it wasn't for the bright orange of the curiously placed beacon how else would we be able to see halon 73 in all that POW POW in POW POW part DUEX, I can only imagine how EPIC the POW POW during part UNO was.

Halon 73 EASILY has the worst videos (notice the plural) on the intertubes. hands down.

he's not wearing an avalanche beacon. its a Spot locator beacon. he uses it when he gets lost in the sidecountry to call for help.

Have you ever had a friend take a bite of some kind of food and go, "Holy crap this tastes TERRIBLE! Try it!", and you do (and guess what, it's freaking terrible). This is the worst logic in the world. What a sell! "This sucks, try it!"

Well, this was like that, I had to take bite of this sandwich. I couldn't stop laughing. It's pretty painful yeah, but you keep watching.

The good news is he's stoked, looks up to you, and like someone said will laugh at this someday. I mean come on. The Eurythmics? AWESOME!

The wife and I really, really enjoyed all these....particularly what Doober posted. The rich play-by-play the old, out of shape gaper offers really makes it, for example he says:

"SWEET" - while running through a couple sticks by the groomer .... my wife said "hell, I SUCK and I wouldn't be saying "SWEET" through that..."

and at the end..."That's a snowboarder run, not a skier one" .... holy shit that's funny.

However, I still thought cruising these runs looked like something fun to do with family, makes me more interested in getting a GoPro than I was before. Glad they're having fun with it.

As for the original submission, it is one of America's inadvertently funniest home videos, especially since I know more than a few Iowans. I bet your cousin isn't such a gaper in a couple of years.

Wow, I did not think that video was for real for a few minutes until I saw these comments. I really want that Darth Vader mask to wear on spring days while shredding Hogan Bowl! Seriously, that mask is pretty amazing.

    Saw this on youtube:

Why are you wearing a SPOT locator to ride the lifts and ski blue groomers? No really, I need to know this.

@graemeo100 I like to use the "tracker" feature to see where I've been on the mountain and how much trail I've covered.

When you're a beginner and you start the day with a few shots of rum (to help with the hangover and lack of sleep), funny shit happens. Its kinda like a guy I know who tried to eat a stick of butter on a dare. End result wasn't pretty.... but it was pretty funny.

But that didn't make me feel good at all. Maybe it was the music, maybe the suck, I don't know... Whatever. False advertising.
