Yeah, I don't blame you for shutting it down, but how would they possibly put a number on their "losses"?
Edited my original post although if they saw this thread I'm sure they're aware of the others. I run a message board for my employer. Received similar threats of legal action over the years with nothing ever taking shape. Doubt it can/will.
TGR shame on you for handling this so professionally. Please take a pointer or two from the saved threads of SSV so you can provide us with the same comical relief that the management at SSV did.
Comically, SSV's attempts at censoring TGR & whatever other community of skiers that happen to have internet access (most of them) only serves to further defame their own already quite defamed reputation. Clowns. You'd think at some point they would've realized their PR in this whole mess has been absolute shit, and would've hired someone who knew their ass from a whole in the ground to fix things. And that person would've said "hey, the threads on TGR slowed way down, why stir things up again?"...my guess is little Scurfield logged on and realized he was being made an ass of, and true to form, called daddy to make those internet meanies pay. Crown douchebags here folks. Crown. Douchebags.
We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.
We all know young Taylor is reading this ...
so do tell,
how much does it cost daddy each year to keep you happy ???
your third generation,
your destiny is to burn grandaddy's money.
please respond,
you know you want to,
don't listen to daddy,
man up, little boy!!!
We, the RATBAGGERS, formally axcept our duty is to trigger avalaches on all skiers ...
^ Right, because who needs a law degree when you have a link to some random internet website?
and now for my 2nd call out ...
how many of you sunshine season pass holders are NOT going to buy another SSV pass for next season ...
bueller ...
bueller ...
We, the RATBAGGERS, formally axcept our duty is to trigger avalaches on all skiers ...
the funny thing is, the thread would've been forgotten pretty much completely in a month or two with no significant court action happening. now that the C&D is sent comments are popping up everywhere. the facetube knows about it and tomorrow it will be in all the major papers in BC/AB. talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
reminds me of Weird Al's Lady Gaga story from yesterday -- she says "no" to his latest parody, he posts it for free on youtube. 5 hours later the thing is viral and Gaga's manager has to take the damage control blame for saying "no". SSV's lawyer probably has no clue about "teh internet". Either that, or they're going after Lee for all his lawyer-y advice in those threads![]()
Perhaps a certain unnamed ski resort is feeling the financial heat due to some poor business decisions and somehow thinks taking on an internet forum is the way to go.
TGR, you dirty little forum. Papa Scurvie is gonna wash your mouth out with soap now.
anybody that feels this is wrong, and has a blog, should post about it to make up for (fill the interweb void for) what tgr took down.
at least facebook it.

Had anyone seen any movement on that thread in the last weeks? A note to the Scurfields, don't let the lawyers manage your PR. They have only one interest, and it is their own. Hire a professional. Throw a couple concerts and turn all proceeds over to avalanche dog training and the Canadian professional ski patrol. Make lemonade out of lemons. Seriously, could you handle this any worse than having your son come here and take on internet land backed by Grandpa's money and then send a C&D.
Wow, you just took a fringe issue on a fringe web site and turned it into a free speech issue and involved thousands that never would have cared. Well played!
As an attorney the first thing I tell a client in a crisis is hire a marketing firm to handle the press. The second thing I tell them is don't say anything in any public forum that you wouldn't want on the 5:00 news. Yesterday you broke rule #1 and #2.
