Kind of a long shot, but any Vegas mags?

Not really the maggot type place, but it's worth a shot anyway. My brother-in-law and I are headed to the Phoenix for new years to watch our beloved UTES hopefully spank Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl. We're looking to crash in Vegas on our way Thursday night the 30th and don't really want to pay hotel prices in Vegas New Year's weekend.

Anyone have any couch/floor space, it would definitely be appreciated.

Mr. Powder. I don't know what his floor space offering situation is though.

when you say "Kind of a long shot"; what are we talkin' here? 7 to 1, 50 to 1, 100 to 1?

Where are you coming from (what route) ? If driving, there will be cheaper places along the way to stay on the 30th, unless you really really want to stay in Vegas.

Examples: Mesquite or Laughlin, NV, or Bullhead City, AZ (all in the general Vegas area).

Coming from Salt Lake and have actually decided to go the more direct route (i.e. not through vegas) if the weather is good, if that's the case, we'll probably just go straight through. If the weather sucks, don't wanna go through the mountains, but Vegas isn't a concern, just staying somewhere is.

If you're from SLC, then you probably already know the wonders of Mesquite... should be plenty easy to find a cheap room there.

Got warm sleeping bags ? You could tent it on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon on your way. (OK, sorta out of the way, but nice views...)

me anda couple of friends are headed down that day as well. Haven't decided on staying in Vegas or not. I did both routes on mapquest and looks like there is only a 50-60 mile difference on routes, but the direct route is primarily on 2 lane roads. Anyone know what route is the quickest?

I've heard that since the direct route travels through mountains, if the weather is good, it's much faster. Otherwise, I think vegas is the way to go.

EDIT: yahoo maps has the vegas route at 767 miles, mapquest has the direct route at 620, that's from Provo, which is where I'll be leaving from when I get done working, but that gives almost 150 mile difference, that's enough for me to go the direct, weather dependant of course.
