    fitness question

I've been reasonably active this summer/fall, running cross country until mid november (40 or so mile weeks with most of it at sub-7 pace) and working out pretty hard since then. Problem was I just now got over a cold/cough that I had for 4 weeks. So what do I spend my free time in the next 7 days before skiing working on, getting my lung capacity/endurance back or rebuilding lost strength?

Gimme 3 bong hits in the morning before school, then 2 shotguns and an irish carbomb at lunch. After school I want you to go ahead and take 2 tequila shots to get started, then give me one hooter followed by a 40.

5 times a week and you'll be skiing like the rest of us, no problem.

Damn, you had a cold for 4 weeks? That sucks.

If you haven't been skiing this year, then don't worry. It'll take you a while to get in ski shape, no matter if you've been running/working out or not.

But seriously, go for a hike or start running. THat is the quick way. You can always ski too (the best choice) provided there is snow.

You're not gonna get stronger/faster/better in 7 days. Don't overtrain, then you'll have tired legs when you start skiing.

Don't push yourself so hard that the last remnants of cold virus can creep back up during your recoup.
I suggest you take on an acitvity that will force your lungs all the way open, down to the very bottom alioli(sp?). A bike ride up a steep hill as fast as you can or a stair run at your absolute limit. You know how it feels when you go into that VO2 max mode - get there to open things up. Don't stay so long that you get so much lactic damage that you can't recover before ski time.
Going for a while without breathing that deep lets some crud settle in, you gotta shake it up and hack it out.

    powho's fitness regimen

    1. Go to fridge
    2. Lift 12 oz can out of fridge
    3. Do finger curl opening 12 oz can
    4. Do bicept curls drinking 12 oz can. Approximatly 6-10 curls per can.
    5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 approximatly 6 to 12 times per night.

    Problems solved.

I find that copious amounts of whiskey help to clear out my lungs.
