Calgary Airport Sleepy

I am going to be landing in Calgary about 1 am on the monday after Christmas. Can you sleep in the airport or do they frown on that? I would imagine I will probably just make reservations at a cheap hotel with an airport shuttle, but I just want to check out my options. Any ideas for hotels? Any bars going to be open? I pick up my rental the next morning and the rest of my family in the afternoon, then it is off to Golden (well, close to Golden)

I've slept there in the past. Just find a dark corner and curt up.

That's a great site.

As for the Calgary airport though, I've never slept there but I have spent a lot of time there. They have, hands down, the best pinball in the city there. Stock up on some loonies and play the night away on the cabinets.

Thanks, that site is great for future reference as well. Pinball sounds like it might be the way to go. It just freaks me out a little bit passing out with $$$ amount of ski gear with me.

slept in an airport many times-

Just as you are- I was a little leary about my beloved equipment walking away during the early hours of REM until I found that I could curl up with one arm looped through all the straps of my equipment bags- helped me sleep easier.

BTW- keep a pillow and blanket from your earlier flight to help the comfort level a little.

I would also recommend packing a smaller thermarest or similar pad if you have room- it greatly ups the comfort level.
