Via Lattea Video TR - comments on edit pls?

While waiting to heal, I've put together footage from last year's trip to Via Lattea.

Tried first a different song for each skier but didn't have enough strong footage for 15 minutes or so - instead I went with one song and a sub-5 minute video to make it snappier.

Any thoughts on the edit are welcome - obviously I don't have any pro ambitions but I'd like to improve as much as possible.

The skiing is relatively mellow by TGR standards.

Well you got the 'something something' productions part down. That's really the biggest step in home movie productions.......to come up with a NAME for the company making the home movies. That way when other people want home movies and need an experienced grip, director of photography, lighting tech, and audio crew, they know who to contact.

    Looks like a fun trip!

I KNEW I got something right! (but will you please stop reading my mind, I'm out of tinfoil hats).

That said, on the understanding that I won't ever be a pro, hints on what (if anything) is ok and what's not are welcome.

Honestly? Keep making more. Every time you put together another one, go back and look at what you made before. What did you like/dislike? What have you seen since that you want to duplicate or improve upon? What are the things that occurred to you one random day that you'd like to see in ANY video? The ability to create a shot you see before you even leave the house is something to strive for and then you'll one day know exactly what it takes to create it. Pick a song one random day that you think would work in a video. Go out and shoot with literally that song in mind and what you think would look good with it.

As far as this one goes, I like that it wasn't overly forced on clip length, following the "I shot it and I want to use it all because it's gold" mindset. That more than anything kills most people's early vids. Keep it up and take it further. Just a warning though since this was obviously a vacation photo: you may become 'that guy' that geeks out on documentation more than enjoying the trip. I became that guy years ago and don't give a fuck. I just know who to take on vacations now

The feel of this one was a little formulaic since there were so many duplicated shots between different people. It's like everyone had their 'turn' skiing the same framed shot. Move around a bit. Make every pass, even on the same slope look different in some way. Move the camera around, move to a different spot, whatever. Just mix it up more.
