Halp! Trying to throw together a last minute euroland trip from March 25 to April 5 and possibly beyond for myself and the gf. Strong skiers with touring experience and interest. Comfortable assessing avalanche hazard and moving through relatively sporty terrain, but would prefer to avoid glaciers to minimize complexity. Would be first time for me in skiing in Europe so my head is spinning a bit.

Looks like there's another round of snow on deck prior to arrival and continuing after. S Alps this wknd and maybe a more favorable for the N Alps pattern late next? How would you play it?

Innsbruck area jumps out since we have some possible hookups on lodging and a car and it seems approachable, but seems like the N alps have been missing the snow lately. Switz is likely out of my price range but Andermatt is intriguing due to everything I've read here. Ideal would be alpine tours on decent to good snow, but it seems like a generally stormy pattern might limit those opportunities so trying to consider areas with low vis options. Barages/La Mongie looks (rods favorite) looks like it's in the flow just before we'd arrive. Italy sounds amazing if a refresh followed by vis shapes up.

Andermatt could deliver given the variety of terrain and reasonable costs. There may be a good local guide hookup available through Mtn Lodge Sedrun. Ask Subtle plague to chime in regarding snow forecast. Enjoy!

Private Messages do not seem to work for me, but here are my thoughts any way:
    https://powderguide.com/en/magazine/...-infinite-glop

so in general: Andermatt could work, if enough comes to the main alpine ridge, but the sun wil be out monday already. Generally id go above 2000m because its quite wet and warm.
Oberengadin will not see as much so Andermatt or alagna or sestrierre could work, but andermatt has more north facing terrain.
Touring in the alpine of the bedretto (semi close to anermatt) shoud be good, base is quite good, but snowpack is a bit sketchy because of a pwl.

Awesome thank you for the detail. I wasn't aware of your website. Bookmarked. Temps seem to be a problem worldwide next week. Passo Tonale is on my radar due to temp forecast. Not much info about it here (so far) and OpenSnow and WePowder forecasts vary wildly on snow. In general, I'm not frothing for pow. Soft surface conditions including chalk, windbuff, etc and vis would be ideal.

    Snow for the Euros.

Finally something to post. Last weeks mission. It sluffed a lot and rocks pocking out so had to take it slow. First time on this peak. The valley view is horrible. Hardly any snow around.
Yesterday two skitourers were pushed into the bergschrund with an avalanche. There is 1.5meters of cover missing in the alpine.

If one were to believe Lukas Ruetz it has been an amazing winter in Sellrain... Maybe it's just me who doesn't like skiing on rocks. Thanks for the beta Twat. Fingers crossed for the weekend.

last chance for Austria this dreadful season?

    https://powderguide.com/en/magazine/...stern-promises

re: lukas ruetz yeah those "search and you will find" guys always have a "good season" I mean we're already hvaing it on powder guide. people give 3 star base and write "you can get down below 2000m without sharks" fuck.. thats not 3 stars. 3 stars in an average season means you can fucking go ealry march beacuse base is at it's thickest.

    last exit austria?

I saw that La Grave is reopening the telepherique this weekend
It’s great that they were able to do it before the end of the season- anyone know how coverage is?

    Thanks for the update subtle.
Making my way to Molltaler tomorrow with the kids. Luck has it, I will ski some pow third year in a row on a preplanned school holiday. Already laying groundwork to steal a day, head up north and pay my respects to a certain bergbahn for its last hooray.

Hey all, arriving to La Grave today and will be there for a few weeks. Anybody want to ski? I’d really love to check out the huts and do a multi day tour like Tour de la Meije.

I spent a month there in 2020 and skied many of the classic lines (Pan de Rideau, Trifides, Voute etc.) I have lots of experience backcountry skiing elsewhere and I’ve taken my Avy Pro 1 course. Also adept at crevasse rescue.

    PM me if you’re stoked!

Hey twat, finally ended up buying those skis today. My first deal in an Austrian parking lot [emoji1]

Tasty conditions in Salzburgerland today. 40-70cms, a bit heavy, but a lot of fun nevertheless. Heavy skis helped.

Just trying to maintain basic hygiene on ‘interesting’ spots, whether I am an alien poacher, as is the case here, or a local at home. Never go full lukesnow [emoji28]

Its an awesome ski that clicks with me. Skied my pair in the morning and bought a back up at lunch [emoji28] Dont see Blizzard re-re-releasing such a ski again, so gotta hoard.

Alias, are you suggesting, that I ask politely in DMs for some Ullr sacrifice material? [emoji38]

I'm the same..... that's why we only give regions at Powderguide never areas.

The we powders and Luke snows of this world don't care... unfortunately. I just thought it was a bit funny considering zauchensee

On the other hand: two of my favourite areas went bankrupt in the last 5 years because nobody went there....so I don't know what's better ?
