Zillertal is great. The train up and down the valley to the different stations. Some real fun skiing in the trees. If you're that way enclinded you could come away a right fat cunt, the food is great

I think I'll also book a place in Wengen as another back up and then make a decision based on snow as we get closer to our dates.

Still open for any additional recommendations for places to go that will allow us to ski pistes from village to village like in the Dolomites.
Consider Lech as well. Accessible from either Munich or Zurich, although no train into town. You can get to St. Anton by train but would then need to bus or taxi, but, from Zurich, Arlberg Express bus service takes you village to village.

As you can see 50% Variation (40 to 60 ) is possible even 2 days out. [emoji6]

Thanks for this. I've heard a LOT about Nordkette over the years & never been. I was skiing with a guy from Innsbruck a couple of weeks ago & he rates it among the best ski stations anywhere (even better than Mammoth apparently).
You're most fortunate to have that on your doorstep.

Finally the Western Alps have gotten some love!

Lovely day in resort around Les Arcs yesterday with the first bottomless turns I've had all year. A few places where you could convince yourself it was thigh-deep in places.

Today off the back of St. Foy which wasn't quite as deep but still soft and fluffy.

Unfortunately, the unseasonable warmth made it a little heavy by the afternoon (even slushy for the last few '00ms) but man it was nice to remember how skiing is supposed to feel!

Those kind of entries are for days when you have ridden the slope next to it safely within the past hour or so for me.

Yeah, this. That funnel slope with a foot of fresh popping onto it and straight into the fall line/gut of the run. Amateur snow assessment fosho.

G3000 was pretty good yesterday. 70cm reported but variable due to windrip.

Does anyone have any advice on finding a place to store a ski bag for a week in the Milan area? I'm going for a two week trip with doing a hut trip the first week then touristing around southern italy for the second week and I'd love to not have to haul my skis around for the second half.

    Thanks in advance

Murren and the schilthorn skied well today, only a skiff down low but a couple inches up high that pillowed into some knee deep turns in a few spots.
Cool place, north face of the schilthorn down through the riggli lift is big mountain skiing. Saw some tracks way outside , but I’m solo so keeping it more in area.

I think Mürren/Schilthorn, Wengen/Grindelwald is next on my list. I'm gonna want to touch base with you for beta sometime Buster. Are they all on the same pass?

If you're flying out of Malpensa, they have storage for luggage at around 4 euro per day.

My guess is nearby hotels would keep a bag for you if you had a room booked.

Passes are optionally shared between grindelwald, wengen and murren-schilthorn.
I paid 256 chf for 4 days for the entire area but that doesn’t include the jungfraujoch from which you can’t ski back to the lifts anyway. It’s a huDge. And talk about the charming little villages and farmers huts interspersed.
I’ll post pics when I get back. Maybe some energetic soul will copy some from the signal posts. Schilthorn has big mountain gnarr and side country.

I’m not sure I can make it that Far East, I’ve got to sort out the train and a bed. Dachstein is a ways out.
Don’t know about urner huts, ask Danny at andermatt-guides, he’ll know.
And subtle, I don’t have your number.

Today, rode thff red mannilichbahn and skied the grindlewald side of the ridge, working skiers right where a few short shots of decent soft lay. Did one lap up the eigernordwand which was wind blown and thin. Went back up above the Klein schidegg on the lauberhorn lift and skied s couple laps of cut up pow. Then followed the lauberhorn run and man that thing is a motherfucker. Can’t believe some of the right angle turns those guys do at 60+mph. Checked out a few of the farmhouses and a dilapidated old hotel by the finish line of the lauberhorn. Finished early today by 2;00
