30-50cm of snow overnight - most lifts closed due to avie danger - took over an hour to shovel the drive this morning!

Just finished skiing. There is about 60cm+ of heavy ass snow in the trees and the wind is hovering around 75km/h at Galzig. Decent turns were had, but it was far from being hero snow. It's man eating snow and everything is trying to slide. Nothing but Galzig, Gampen, and Nasserein are open.

FUCK - can't find any accommodation in St. Anton for Friday night. Tried all the number the Tourismusverband gave me, but none of them has anything available.

Hmm, maybe the Kripp after all on Saturday.

and: to calm you down the arlberg avalanche guys updated at 11am saying 30 to 50cm+ have fallen. sooo 60cm could well be possible. a meter? well i do not think so. but they updated because avalanche danger has risen to level 4 (this morning at 7.30 they thought it would rise to 3..)
i still got no clue about what to do (hear me rap!), but im getting the red ranger road rage vehicle from my parents now

A meter is a bit far fetched but currently it is absolutely nuking outside. If it continues at this rate it very well could end with a meter of accumulation.

Level 4 is definately justified. Things were moving all over the place this morning and the wind continues to howl in the alpine

I'm still loving the snow prediction i made ..... on the nail and sweeeeet !!!

I'm still booked in for grand-massif / cham for next week , looks like i'll be lapping some untouched in and around the grand massif this weekend.

Guys, with the weird temperatures between now and saturday, the avalanche risk will be v.v.v.high. Be Very careful off piste.

Batteries in beacons ..... check
Take all your equipment up the mountain ...... check
I always get the tel number of the pisteurs office before heading off piste so i can contact the right people first.

Don't take too many risks between now and saturday, its going to be dodgy out there.

I know all of us are experienced / equipped / knowledgeable but our excitement sometimes makes us forget..

Lets go get some .....

Not sure about everywhere else, but in the shaded snow of the Alpes Vaudoises
hoar frost was growing before this storm like mold in my jogurt.

I am glad to hear it was a wet one, hoping it melted those pinions of hoars and bonded with the layer below.

Good that it is sliding now (controlling itself) and not later when unexpected.

Pick safe lines, and enjoy it. Teaching today, so cannot give an update.

Just back from Les GM... 50-80cm fresh on the ground - more in wind pockets - from this last storm. I got face shots. Was able to stick my entire ski pole into the snow in some places before hitting anything non-soft.

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY.

Unfortunately freezing level is supposed to soar up to near 3000m so the mother nature that givith may taketh away... hopefully the warming won't fuck everything up.

I was thinking the same thing about the lovely crystal in powsluts gloved hand in his "hoar" thread.
