Agreed. I think our road trip has found a destination.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and, uh, where is this place?),

    when do you go?
apparently they won't open the whole mountain for the weekend(but later on next week when the sun should come out they said), so im not sure if iwant to go ,but if there is enough snow the www.feuerkogel.net in the same area might be an alternative. but they will only open for the weekend.

I will be on the wrong side of the alps from thurs - sunday. Frikkin Val Thorens, with a massive base of exactly 0cm's.

Well.. snow-forecast predicts a heavy snowfall on friday and saturday for val Thorens and the west.. It might be optimistic, but atleast there's some hope.

I'm going to Grenoble on friday, plan to hit 2Alpes on sat or sunday, and maybe d'Huez the following weekend if they've opened.. busy with conference in Grenoble in the week, but any recommendations (skiing/other) in the area would be welcome.
    Sinful and wind-borne..

Us losers are heading out on the 7th and back on the 12th December, so we're looking for deep snow, fun terrain and basic lodging. Any recommendations in the Loser/Krip (I love that) area?

if the kripp is not open i can't recommend anyhing because we've only been there, BUT as it still is a while until then they may open earlier too. (as every area there does right now ). and then check www.lodge.at .

if not you're on your own because idon't know the other areas.

you might want to target more south. solden would be my pick. or the dolomites if there were anything open.

nothing wrong with the saas fee/zermatt outlook either.

Kinda raises the question of whether you'd rather ski Bovec in epic conditions or somewhere like Cham/La Grave in OK snow.

Hey, is this en route to Loser?

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/15/austrian_signs/

I looked it up on Mapquest and it's not far off. Mapquest even helpfully provides links to Fucking Insurance, Fucking Real Estate, Fucking Motels and Jobs In Fucking.

Kabubu was talking about this town last night (pronounced-> Vicking), specifically about all the American and British tourists who are always stealing the town signs. We also talked about taking a trip up the (I mean to) Poppenhausen in Bavaria.

Where it go? What happened overnight?

    Monday's 6 - 7 day predictions of 30 - 50cm around Zermatt/Saas Fee for this weekend have melted away to 10 - 20cm.

Even that massive dumpage in pink (50 - 100cm) in north-eastern Italy centered around Bornio has disappeared.

SKUNKED! Oh well, must be why they call it weather...whether or not it will snow.

that's the problem with 5-7 day forcast in a highly variable weather pattern.
the central low over the north sea and its exact position and depth are the main factors.
