So, should I regret not coming home to Austria over spring break?

Snowing at 450m elevation right now in the Haute Savoie. Snowed last night at that level as well. Good skiing now and should be great skiing Friday and Saturday when the storm clears.

60-70fresh already and a warning by www.meteocentrale.ch that another 50cm may be on their way in the next 24h

and btw. carinthia got 100cm, northern austria up to 70cm.
and it's still snowing there (in the north) as well.

Olli will be on skinny red tele's, and red jacket +black G9 MX helmet with a change for a nickel-sticker on it somewhere.

I'll be home, icing my knee and popping painkillers.

Anyone know how Krippenstein has been skiing? I know it is fairly low but i am hoping this storm might have hit it hard.

oups sorry to hear that. reading quickly i confused the was supposed with is supposed and understood that your season just starts since your knee is better now... and that you predicted a late season since you were hoping...

i was hoping to see you. but i ll keep my eyes open for your friend and say hi from you when i see him.

There's only one word that can describe today: EPIC! 60cm at the verbier side of attelas. Had one continous faceshot under the new attalas 6-er chair all the way down to la combe1, 60cm!
(I know it's steep for the amount of new snow, was there with a guide that said it was ok under this conditions)

Eurotrash collective, I wanna see some pics.

Hayduke, don't go spraying without any photographic backup!

Several all-time snowfall records were set for March in Austria in the last couple of days ...

Fully agree! Even a pic of the snow would work.

Yep, my season never really started... A few lousy days at Åre, and then some molehills... Eberg was supposed to be a good one, and then something up north and finish the season with Stryn...

But my ACL and meniscus had other plans. Now boasting a new hamstring ACL and patched up meniscus, I won't be likely to ski until next season.

Oh well, next season should be epic... And I'll prolly try to get to Eberg and Alps in general a few times.

Off to ice the knee more...

oh, and if you do meet with Olli and his cousing, do say hi and possibly even show them around for a run or two (provided it's not an epic pow day).

Nearby Tauplitz saw 50cm fresh, Bergfex is saying 40cm fresh for Krippenstein with 200cm total up top.

Wow. Winter has truly returned to the Alps.

Which is a bit inconvenient for me as I am 4,500 miles away, it's currently 33 degrees C, and I'm overlooking palm trees and desert peaks.

Still, there ARE upsides. (mini TR to follow)

I always wondered why it starts nuking hard each time you're kicking back elsewhere.

The story about the butterfly in Brazil flapping it's wings and causing a storm in Europe is a myth.

In reality, it's a Roo in some far away place, letting one rip that actually causes the storm.
