Last run of the day through Alta?

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I gotta ask: Do you think anyone from Alta with Bird pass-yanking privileges would care if my single-plank riding self took a run through Alta to GMD for the Utarded Mini kickoff shindig? I'd probably just drop in from the bootpack above Baldy Express and cruise down to GMD as a last run of the day.

    Snowboarding isn't allowed at Alta.

The old gaurd may run you down and poke you with thier ski poles! I would guess if patrol saw you they would have an issue, which could go badly with your bird pass.

Plus if you did make it down, some punk skier would steal your board.

In the Soul Purpose video there is an helmet cam vid of one of the behind the camera guys poaching Alta on a snowboard. Pretty cool, its under athlete bios in the extras section.

    Never ask permission, appologize later

    Learned this years ago.

If you ask: the answer is "NO"

If you just Do It and appologize later the response is "Don't do it again"

You weren't going to do it again anyway!!!

    Enjoy

It is OK to ride a board at Alta, they just won't let you on the lifts. The land is owned by the Forest Service, which allows boarding. The lifts are owned by Alta, and they don't. I have friends from Snobird who do the Baldy Chutes on their boards whenever they're open and they've never been hasseled. When I used to splitboard, I would often ride back thru Alta coming back from Tuscarora or the Lakes District with no problems.

Make sure both arms are up and giving the finger when you come down the groomers.

It's not allowed, and you might/will get yelled at. I'm not sure if they'll take your pass, but I know it's not a good idea to get in trouble with Snowbird, as they can be assholes about stuff like that.

Personally, I think you should be allowed to. What's the big deal?

You should do it. If you are harassed by anyone with pass yanking authority just deny having a pass. People ride snowboard's at Alta more often then you would think.

Yeah, you're better off riding the Ho train than ripping down the groomers. No, they won't pull your pass, but they can be dicks so why chance it?

    Just do it, puss.

The worst consequence you'll face is being told you can't ride back up on the lift.

I'll lend you some poles so you can claim monoski status with a slightly canted stance.

Would your car not be at the Bird? It seems like it'd be easier just to ride on down to your car and then drive to GMD, then you can leave when you want and not be at someones mercy.

Or was the point to see if it could be done and how mad it'd make people?

    Easier, but not as fun.

I'm not trying to piss anyone off. I've never taken a run from the top of Alta so I thought it might be fun to ride down to GMD at the end of the day.

Do it and tell anyone who bitches at you to go fuck themselves - it's public land.

But it's probably a good idea to hide your board at the bottom.

    Alta's policy is just wrong.

What if Buzz and Boarder held hands while sliding on their boards claiming to be saimese twins skiing on really fat skis?
"But I don't want to go among mad people," said Alice. "Oh, you can't help that," said the cat. "We're all mad here."
