Boot Help: Full Tilt vs. Ghost CS

Here's the Deal: I'm 5'9 170lbs. Aggressive EC (Stowe and Jay) skier currently using the Salomon 1080 Gun pro model boot (95 flex i think) and I was pretty much sold on the Ghost CS for my next boot until I checked out full tilt's website. Looking for some input from boot experts or ppl who have skied either boot.

My concern with the Ghosts is comfort and I have read they are cold and a pain to put on.

My concern with the Full Tilts is they won't have the race fit/performance as the Ghosts. I still like to pull out the race sticks for some early morning groomers before spending the rest of the day in the woods.

I have read a bunch of reviews but i am still torn. Opinions please...

^ I agree, fit is king in my book. I've skied full tilts, and while I was never a racer, I don't think it would be a problem -especially if you're coming from a 95 flex boot. The FT's are a bit different, very progressive, but they made my feet angry.

I skied Dalbello Kryptons (same 3-piece shell as Full Tilts) and Ghosts. Fit really is the bottom line. Kryptons never really felt right to me; Ghosts feel good.

As far as cranking out race turns, I'd sayGhosts al the way, but that may have more to do with fit. Ghosts hike way better, if that's important to you. I would say that Ghosts are pretty cold. Not really too hard to get on and off once you learn the trick.

There's a whole thread on Kryptons vs. Full Tilts that you should read (if you haven't):

And a thread on ghosts: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...Pre-Ski-Review which includes a nice video of how to get on and off easily.

I was thinking of either the Ghost or some full tilts' earlier this season, since Full Tilt was out of my size, I got the Ghosts. I'll admit, getting them to fit correctly was somewhat of a pain for me, I've got the whole narrow heel, wide forefront foot going on. Lucky for me, the ghosts' CS part of the boot allowed me to pretty much fix the whole width thing, had to bake the shells twice, but they feel incredible now. Dunno what the forward lean is on the full tilts, but the ghost is pretty aggressive, I actually get more tired on the groomers back down to the lift than I do skiing steeps. Also, the ghost is more laterally rigid than any other boot I've been in, makes turning over big skis much easier. my complaints about the ghost would be that; the shell fit on the boot was alright (had to grind the big toe out a little bit), the liner was not... had to cut some of the liner out so it wasn't constantly squishing my toes. But, I land pretty much directly in between a 25.5 and a 26.5 in most brands, companies extending the toe box further and further has kinda screwed me over. so if you've got a pretty true foot, that lands pretty well on top of your mondo point size, you're probably good to go. The ghost fits a lower volume foot better out of the box as well. But, the ghost is pretty easy to customize, so with a little bit of work, you can make them fit like a glove.

Are you in the 1080 gun (older) or the Falcon lasted Gun? I think the falcons were a translucent gray shell with red paint. If it is the falcon, the ghost will fit very similar.

Full tilts will be lighter, smoother flexing but less powerful. I'd say for skiing EC you're better off with the ghosts. Provided they fit, of course

Those are based on the old X-Waves, not the Falcon; wider fit than either of the two you've mentioned. Buy what fits.

That's a good way to put it. I fought with a pair of Krypton Pros for two seasons before giving up and trying the Ghosts. I've got the older softer version, but they still don't fold over like the Kryptons did.
