Kirkwood yesterday was fun if you stayed where others had already skied - venturing into "untracked" was TERRIBLE - it had rained and left a nice rain crust on top of mush. In some places, you could almost see your reflection in it! Oops was good, as were the main lines in wagon wheel and the gullies off of 10 - eagle bowl was fun when it had sun on it, and Norms was actually skiable!!!!!
We decided that it was officially a bad idea to leave the runs . . . So, I decided to head to the car and get tele skis (cuz if you're stuck on groomers, why not?!?) . . . . took the shortcut through the trees (despite earlier realizations), and it was manky breakable. I got going too fast, and saw the fall develop, tried to scrub speed with a turn, went down, but my left ski stayed put in a position that nobody would describe as natural . . . I felt a twist, screamed (so I didn't hear anything else), and was sure I had really done it.
Of course, given all the knee issues this board has seen recently, especially in the Tahoe region, I was freaking out. I had never really accepted the reality of a knee injury until recently and was pretty sure this was my day.
Fast forward to lph saving the day - not knowing what to think, and being sure I had done something, I called the guy I knew would know best. He was working, so I went to his office, did x-rays and an MRI to find out I haven't torn anything (thank God!). Honestly, I can't thank you enough!!! Yet another example of the overhwelming good spirit and generosity on this board!
So, now I get to jump through the Kaiser hoops and see where I stand . . . might have to take some time off, but at least surgery, etc. is unlikely![]()
And that's my story - KW might be good by tomorrow if things have corned up and consolidated . . . gimpy and co. were gonna explore some S facing happiness today, so they may have some conditions update![]()
Thanks again lph!!!!
