    How the ACL gets blown

My knee doctor (Orr) and PT (Proctor) did a lecture at LTCC on knee injury prevention on Wednesday. Here's the article:

    http://www.laketahoenews.net/2011/01...visiting-them/

I thought this part was very interesting:

Credit was given to Drs. Robert Johnson and Jasper Shealy, and engineer Carol Ettlinger for spending years analyzing 10,000 videos to narrow what happens during ski injuries. The research was whittled down to six elements that lead to ACL injuries:

    • Uphill arm is back

    • Skier is off-balance to the rear

    • Hips are below the knees

    • Uphill ski unweighted

    • Weight on the inside edge of downhill ski tail

    • Upper body generally facing downhill ski.
When I blew my knee out last year, I was experiencing three of the six points above.

    Thanks for sharing that article.

Key immediate thing you can do to help prevent injury to the ACL is not to try to salvage falls, esp when you get back on your skis and your hips sink below your knees.

Thanks, it's already impossible for me to stop my brain, you just made it worse.
    No longer stuck.
