We need somebody like Robb Gaffney to make a book about Kirkwood Lines. His Squallywood book is pretty impressive.

So, once a person has done Litte Jim's, is it a requisite to sack up and do Big Jims? I mean, we are all about progression right?

Slim Jim's is next on the list. It's flat landing will prepare you for Big's

Gotcha. So it's Little, Slim, Big. I'll keep that in mind. Which brings up my next question: how steep is the landing on Big Jim's? (Not that I'm thinking about coming to Kirkwood after the next large storm. Nope, not at all.)

I'd rephrase the question to: "How flat is the landing on the Big Jim's?"

It's not a very steep landing for how big that air is. I've never done it, and probably won't, but I've seen people hot tub to the point where their friends need to help pull them out

Yes, we are. Speaking of which... Hey Ty, please tell me your working out your upper body a lot. Cause I hope you realize we're all anxiously awaiting the day you break out the mountaineering gear on the half pipe.

    Oh yeah!

there's a skate park in my town with a halfpipe....I wonder if they'll let me practice front pointing up it? Or maybe I can practice self-arresting on the mini-ramp.

Ah, understood. Scratch that. I have a large aversion to flat spinal compression landings.

As for the self-arrest down the mini ramp, just do it at night. That way, you can be extra cool with all the sparks. Also, I bet the crampons would rail slide pretty good.

I like the way you think....kinda like winterized, aggro-fruit booting.

Big Jim's is flat....I've done it three times. Two with speed, and one hot-tub air. Its an air to stop if you know what I mean.

Also known as Phat to Flat. Fun factor: one snowflake with lots of new snow, minus one snowflake in spring conditions.

Since Kirkwood seems to be full of phat-to-flat cliffs, does anyone know about some more "fun" cliffs there, with steeper landings?

    [/crickets].....

seriously though there's a few....there's one on the skier's left exit of Boulder Narrow's off Thunder Saddle that's really fun (and really, really FAST). Here's a view from the top looking through Punani's skis. This line is usually a simple fast straightline if you hang a right as you go through the rocks. But if you veer to the left, you fly off this cliff that can be 20 ft. maybe early season (but non-existent and completely buried late season). Your speed carries you pretty far down the hill. You can see my bombhole in this pic just past the untracked part. The main thing here is holding on to the speed because you straightline it from where this shot was taken. It's a good landing though.

Hmmmm, since when did the kookwood crew start giving up directions and names. This is a bit like the mob informing on itself.
