First lifts after a big storm

I am heading out to Colo this up coming week and I was just curious if it is worth the 30-40 bones to pay ontop of the the normal lift ticket to get one of those powder early lift tickets where they let you ride half hour before everyone else? I mean is that the only way to get some fresh pow after a good night, or will i still get some pow if i just wait for the first normal lift. If you guys have any stories let them out so I can hear what you guys have experienced. I want this trip to be a sick one.

I think those tickets are urban legends. I have never seen anyone go up the lift before me in Summit County while I have been waiting for first chair with a normal season pass.

depends on the ski hill, the amount of snow (and how long since the last snow), and the desired position in line. and even the lift.

First chair, the quad at Bridger, 2 weeks no pow, foot of fresh, get there at 7 might do it.

so an hour before the open would get me indecent position, i mean this is all speculative and dependent on a bunch of variables, but i mean in general?

Yeah, an hour would be plenty of time I'd think. Even a half hour will get ya pretty near the front around here.
