West Kootenay report
After a week of storms back to back to back, dropping approx. 1500mm (59 inches for the metric impared) of cold smoke, the temerature has risen to the freezing level just on time for the weekend. A bit of a bummer but I got some last weekend and it was beyond good. I'll probably try to get out on Sunday after it begins to cool again and the havealunch hazard has dropped.
Kootenay Pass was a zoo last weekend. People everywhere. On the plus side there was not much trail breaking to do.
I stopped by Kootenay experience and there was a court ordered closure notice taped to the door. Apparently Trevor is experiencing a nasty divorce. I don't know if it is spilling over to the Yurts but I imagine they are prolly down for the time being. The timing could not be worse.
Driving conditions have been excellent for 4x4 diesel trucks with chewer snow tires.
Whitewater opened last weekend for the weekend only. Sking was apparently exellent but only the small side of the mountain was open and the lift lines were huge.
Today is opening day at Red Mountain. Talked to a buddy who toured up and hit Link's Line for a few runs on Wednesday. Apparently it was amazing.
Going to ride lifts with the wife and 3, 5 & 7 yo offspring tommorow.
You are what you eat.

There's no such thing as bad snow, just shitty skiers.
