    Seth Pistol Mounting Question

Got a question about mounting a new set of pistols. I am about 5'10" and 140lbs. I ski mostly in the East (almost exclusively at Jay), but try to make a trip or two out west every year. I am going to have the pistols mounted with a pair of S912Tis this weekend hopefully in time for some Sunday pow. These will be my main boards for all mountain use. While I will use them in the park, that is not my main objective for these boards - more trees and all mountain use. I am thinking about having them mounted between +2 and +3 cms. Does this seem reasonable?

    Thanks!

Perfectly reasonable. I suppose it depends on what length of ski they are, but Seth mounts his 189s at +5

I personally would probably go to +2 myself...maybe +2.5, something like that.

    Exclamation

I have 189s and I put my bindings at +2 cm instead of the normal +3 for big mountain skiing, if you want to dabble in jib tricks it is a good spots otherwise I would do +3 if you don't want any jib. The skis ski well at the +2 position for me at alta/snowbird for the stuff here for me.

i have my 189's mounted +1 and they're awesome for skiing pow and all that. I also have some 179's center mounted at like 7 or 8. they still ski really well and are sweet for switch/jibbing stuff.

Bzzt! Seth mounts his pistols back, not forward (and certainly not forward 5 centimeters.)

I'm sure Seth only has 1 pair of his own pro models, dedicated solely for the only thing he skis, which is heli-skiing in AK. Ok, perhaps 2 pair. But they're both mounted the same, because he has to pay for all his skis.

Shit, he's probably got a pair for every day of the week, +1, +2, +3, +4... etc. When my pro model comes out, I'm doing the same thing. Uh, hmmm.

that's not what he said, on his site. perhaps you should go there again every once in awhile.

you and BakerBoy could cuddle there too.

BB, what's this stuff about Seth having to buy skis?

In trying to keep up with the Euro steeze, not only did I cut the tails off my Seth Pistols, but I went ahead and cut the tips off too and mounted them upside down... core rating = high.

BB's pro-model will only be able to do a lincoln loop to 90, because that's all he does!

FWIW, I have a pair of 189 Hippy Stinx w/ Freerides that are at +1, which conveniently allows me to use two of the inserts! They ski just fine right there for my 99.9% going forwards style. I think I might move the Made'ns up a few cm's though... there's a whole lotta tip and not much tail when mounted up boot center.
Putting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.

    whats up jongy McNug!

fyi you guys this is a buddy of mine, so feel free to give him a huge load of steaming shit. but he's a good guy so make sure to leave him some moist towlettes to wash up with.

i also just got some pistolas.

ehen altaholic says go +2 instead of the +3 recomended for big mountain, does that make any sense to you guy? why would you want less tip for charging big lines?

i was thinking of going boot center of forward one cm.
me= 6'4" 200 lbs. ski on my toes as it is, forward stance.

I ended up settling for boot center on my 179s. I do minimal flippy-spinny stuff, so this set up works great for me.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Well, [snotty tone]he said he mounts them 1cm back for big-mtn. Bakerboy and I cuddle everywhere, and the "stuff about Seth having to buy skis" is called sarcasm.[/snotty tone]

Also, I've re-mounted my Pistols +3 and they dive like muthafuckas in the deep. Perhaps Seth rides +5 for jibbing or riding hardpack days?

Nope, feels nice and balanced to me. I've skied them on most everything too.
