oh and lane... I think it would be entirely beneficial for you to re-enter the sociological mainstream by re-engaging in the ritual act of dating members of the opposite sex.

I might show up at Loveland ski area after I get some runs on the pass.

And I've got my little trees shots that I like so well. I'd have a really close look before I skied higher on the pass.

Ah, you might want to read what Nick has to say in the avalanche report...

Yeah, but a smart one. I was rushed trying to sneak this post in at werk. But believe me I read everything on CAIC very carefully and use it in my decision making process. And I saw for myself this morning that the snow is very strange right now.

Their description was pretty cool, now that I've had a better chance to look.

    SNOWPACK
In the N mtns most of the avalanches reported today were from control work…CDOT on Loveland & Berthoud passes, Copper Mtn, Vail, Winter Park and Steamboat, plus a skier released slide near Vail Pass yesterday. There were some 35 of these. Some ran very large and some on low angles in the trees. Some slides ran easier with ski cutting than with explosives. Almost all were hard slabs on N-E aspects, both above and below TL. There were 3 avalanches reported from the C mtns, plus several size 1's. In the S mtns 17 slides were seen that ran in the last 24 hours…mostly from the recent blowing snow above TL onto E-S aspects.

Backcountry travelers should use extreme caution on any slope steeper than 30 degrees and not travel beneath these steep slopes in the N mtn warning area…either above or below timberline. Also be extra careful in the C & S mtns, especially on slopes that approach 35 degrees in steepness near and above timberline at this time. If your group consists of risk-takers, be sure to carry and know how to use avalanche rescue gear. Remember, it's easier to stay out of an avalanche than it is to effect a successful rescue in case something goes wrong.

Snowfall has all but stopped but blowing snow continues, especially in the N mtns. I will keep the N mtn avalanche warning in place until tomorrow when visibility is better and more reports come in. Warming temperatures will help stabilize the storm snow. About 20-40 inches of snow has fallen in the N mtns during the storm, most in the Steamboat zone. The Tower site, N of Rabbit Ears Pass got 4 inches of water equivalent in the last few days.
The avalanche danger is rated HIGH at all elevations and on all aspects in the warning area of the N mtns. The warning is for mountainous areas from the WY border south to a line that runs from Denver to Glenwood Springs to Grand Junction, which dips south to Hoosier Pass near Breckenridge.

Still haven't decided how I'm going to handle Loveland Pass. May just go to the area in the morning.

It's beginning to look like Vail for me tomorrow too. What's the park-n-ride plan?

I'll see some of you fools in a few hours anyway.

Did you all the cubicle folks get the memo?
Memo: We are putting new cover sheets on all the TPS reports before they go out.
