working during a summit CO powder day (sigh...)

so summit rarely gets the goods like this and although its early season (nothing open) I still wish I could be up there in my gear instead of down here in my office. Oh well...one more week of cubeland and then its filming/skiing for a few months. Hope the conditions continue (30" in 2 days in summit? unreal)

I want to see the pics! maybe I can get up there tommorrow with the rest of the front range. who is going tommorrow??

I'm here too. Keep thinking that the wind hammered everything and there's no terrain open, it makes me feel a little better.

I keep forgetting that it's still "early season" for some people. Mammoth has been 100% open since mid-November, and almost 100% skiable since late October.

At least you're only missing a Summit County powder day. Is there anything at any of those resorts that you can get enough speed on to ski that much snow that won't rip out from under you and kill you?

Buck up, little campers! They'll open more shit soon, and by then you'll be free of your cubes.

(and HJ - at least you're not stuck in a cube in the `Burgh wishing you were up at Seven Springs!)

PPS - at least you're not looking at 5 feet of bullet proof cement like we are
PPPS - Why do you guys live there again?

Talk about a mixed blessing. Despite the lackluster predictions for this storm we ended up with lots of snow, but so much wind. We shall see tomorrow if all this snow stuck around or blew out to Kansas. Curious to see what the conditions will be like.

In addition, the backcountry is a no-go: lots of wind + cold-to-warm storm + lots of snow.

While I too would rather be outside than stuck in the office (with nothing to do today); just remember that the conditions are not really very good. Wind scoured over rock hard with lots of fun 'gotchas' buried just beneath the surface. I guess I'm spoiled after getting 27" at Soli the Turkey day wknd but I'm just not very excited about skiing tomorrow with the ga'jillion folks who are going to head up the grab the "fresh powder" that the talking heads keep spouting on about. Whatever you do, don't go to Keystone - Summit chair is still down and the line to get up the mtn will be horible.

......Gettin' excited about the mini and 80" bases.
    I think I'm going mad.

dont worry... I know better than to ski keysone, on a saturday no less. Most likely i will be up at 6 to get early laps on coppers superB chair and testing out salomon's new skis courtesy of a buddy who is doing their demo days. I may even bust out the 194 Stocklis to see how fast I can go before i scare myself. (which I am selling btw)

anyone else up for copper tommorrow? I will probably be leaving the mnts by 1 or 2 to avoid 3hrs+ of bumper to bumper

Yep, being stuck in Boulder sucks. Just finished the last final and have an interview this afternoon.

But, I have a month of no school, so the skiing will happen. Just hurts to see all the new snow and not be there. Just to rub it in, my wife blew off work and hit Eldora today.

5 feet of bullet proof was SO yesterday. Today, it's 60 and sunny, and time to farm some corn. The Palisades are pretty much compeltely filled in by the "manky storm" which opens up all kinds of options. Pony Express, Chimney Sweep, The Box, Extra Chute, you name it, should all be good to go this afternoon if you have big balls and stiff enough skis to handle the chatter on the hard runout once you get past the shadow line of Beck's Rock. Hard to believe we get to see these lines skiable this early in the year.

I think I'll be up at Copper as well. Do you have a pair of DPs or SSs. There can only be one pair of DPs at a time at Copper...

Well, I know you don't want to hear this, but Loveland and the 22" of fresh did not suck this morning . The snow was a lot better than expected. Real deep and light in the trees. Should be good tomorrow as well. Who's going up?

iskibc. How was the wind up there? Any new terrain open since earlier in the week?

It's been hammering between 30 - 50mph down here in boulder.

Looks like Vail is opening back bowls and blue sky tomorrow. should be okay

lots of wind-scoured all over the place but there's plenty of good stuff, too. most of the more east-facing runs at the Jane today were pretty nice...Park side was horrible.

Nothing new opened today, but I'm guessing they will be opening a bunch more terrain for this weekend. It was still a little gusty and snowy up there when I left at noon.

If Im at copper I will either be on flame bigs and freerides or SS 194.

Hmmmm. if vail is opening back bowls and blue ski I may just have to break out the spatulas and head back there. I hit that last year for opening day and it did not suck. and theres more snow now than then.....

dood, if you go to Vile...I'd go with you...might even make you a brekky burrito...No can do Copper, no pass there. Can do Loveland for cheap, and WP for cheap too... Loveland could be pretty good...

    hmm....

Actually, I know a ton of people going up various places this weekend...

    I can't believe I'm at work today.

Oh, by the way CO maggots, I was unable to make the Camera hand-off, so I have it still. We should get some footie this weekend!

    Yoss,

Looks like I'm heading up to loveland again tomorrow. You should come. Looks like chairs 8 and 4 may open, as well as some runs off OTR. It was real deep in and around the trees today. Let me know what your plans are.

Somebody please go get some soft, deep, wide-open runs off chair 8 and bring back pictures.

Yoss, check your PM box. I might be able to score an empty condo up there tonight.
