Reply here if you were disappointed today in LCC

    Lots of snow = good
Very strong winds for two days = bad

There might have been 2 feet of new at Alta, but it was well buried by the 4 inch layer of very dense windbuff. I've never skied denser windbuff.

Additionally, Collins didn't open until 11:15. The High T still hadn't opened as of 1:30. Obviously, backside, shoulder, castle, and just about everything was closed.

Edit: oh, and waiting at the park and ride for so long, ending up not skiing because of the delay sucked a bit too...but at least i'll ski this weekend, could be worse.

Alas, do not fear! You've been spoiled by consistent blower and have forgotten how to ski the pow that the rest of the world gets. So the Tahoe mangions have sent you hardrider to show you the way. Just look for the obnoxious red pants and a pair of wizard Exploders. He'll be smiling and bombing down the hill while you're complaining about the "wet" snow.

It's all because I stayed home.

Could be a good huck day soon if it doesn't get too warm? I'm sure that wind layer on top won't matter at all when hucking.

That's what I want to hear. I'm making my Utah/Alta debut tomorrow, I am assuming despite the winds and possible warm temps there should be some good turns to be had with 2' feet of new snow.

I'll be on the lookout for Maggots.

stomping on the steeps, yes. in anything flat, no.

md, the top wind layer is all you can get to in most areas that are exposed to the wind. the stashes even have signs of wind and dense snow.

i had fun today. if you weren't expecting to ski deep blower, which i wasn't, it was good. fast and smooth for the first few runs. with nothing open besides mainstreet, freds trees, lower shoulder and the ho----things got tracked quick. when i left, they had just started another bombing run on the hi-t. they are busting their asses to open it since they really need to get some skier compaction out there. it just wasn't ready yet.

if anyone wants to stomp some lift accessed cornices tomorrow, let me know.

Reply here if you are from a flat and/or mostly snowless state and have become incredibly spoiled the few years you've lived in Utah.
Seconding the vote for "You guys are on drugs."

The only bummer about today was how much stuff was closed. That just means more freshness tomorrow.

I was disappointed in LCC today, mainly because I wasn't there. I'm marooned in NJ for another 37 hours where it is currently 50 degrees and raining . At this point, any snow is good snow in my book.

I had fun at the bird today. Not saying the snow was the greatest but it was good to push around and landings were soft. Fuck yeah it was good.

    Oh I'm definately disappointed...disappointed that I:
    a) am sick
    b) am at work
    c) wasn't in LCC at all today
    d) all of the above.

The correct answer is d. Don't complain; at least you were out in the snow and not coughing up a lung at a desk job. A crappy snow day beats bronchitis ANY day. When you want to complain, think of people like me being jealous of people like you. All in good cheer here.....tootles!

Ahhhh....the one day i'm working 9-5. The reason for this...DTM is coming in tomorrow night, I'd like to NOT be at work when he arrives.

We'll be skiing all weekend, and all next week, so let's hookup then!

Well, I wasn't really expecting it to be blower considering the warming and the wind, so I wasn't expecting much. Would have liked to have had more terrain open, but I had a lot of fun today. It was just like skiing back home in the PNW.....really fast snow.

Z - next time I see you up there I hope it isn't waiting 45 min at the gate for the High-T

Today was the weirdest snow I have ever skied at Alta. First run off Wildcat (while everyone and their mother waited for Collins to run) was really cool. Definitely not a power day but still fun. Tomorrow and the weekend should be great.

RB / Lumpy, sorry I lost you. I waited at the bottom for quite a while until someone said RB had wrecked and was going to be a while. I tried to lap back up but lines were still a little slow at that time. I stayed until 2 pm waiting for the High-T to open but no luv.
