So you hate rich people but don't care about the environment....gotcha. Buster feels the same way. (heard he's rich though)

Don't put words in my mouth fuckwit.

As mentioned, yo're misconstruing the situation in yet another sad attempt at getting attention.

You're a classic troll. And trolls suck.

    Buh-bye you suckbag.

    Lightbulb

Mt. MacKenzie-The $270-million project includes more than 16,000 beds, full guest service facilities, an 18-hole golf course, a multi-use trail system, 25 lifts and 100 ski and snowboard trails. (much more intrusive than WC development)

    Maggots-Hooray!!! Lets DO IT!!!

Wolf Creek- “Village at Wolf Creek” – 2,172 units on 162 lots, 5,176 bedrooms

    No way!!

The biggest reason the environmentalists can come up with to combat the Wolf Creek expansion are the protection of REINTRODUCED lynx. These cats get whacked by cars on the highway, not by hotels. They were re-introduced because our infrastructure and lifestyle wiped them out in the first place. Why can't humans just except that we are intrusive on some creatures and that is that? Wolf re-introduction has worked very well too....

I don't really have an opinion either way on either of these expansions, but be consistent people.......

Yeah I hate rich people and the environment.

So either I love the environment and have to cry foul at any development, or I hate the environment and want to see it all paved? Man it must suck to live in a world that black and white (now you're probably going to call me a racists).

Instead of being consistent I'd rather see people actually think before forming an opinion.

Dude, one which you agree with is developing THOUSANDS of acres of land.

WC on the other hand will be much, much smaller. What's your reasoning? A capitalist in a capitalist society making money? Please explain.

Development is going to happen no matter what. Development that takes into account public opinion and is deemed to be in the best interest of a community may not necessarily be bad. At least in Revelstoke they took the time to allow the public to comment and the environmental impacts to be studied.

In short they are two different situations.
Fuck it, let's just build lifts from Banff to Vancouver. What the hell?!? Do we really need ANOTHER resort? This expansion garbage just get's me going. Friggin' eh?!?

Is this the resort this guy wrote about? It's a good read.

BH, seems pretty similar to me. Cutting trees to build on untouched land in Colorado and Canada is still cutting trees to build on untouched land.

I've flown over Canada a few times. They have entirely too many trees.

Seriously: compared to the Alps there are hardly any ski resorts at all in the Rockies.

The whole purpose of building the ski resort is to sell realestate, nothing more. Developers want to sell condos and 2nd homes to aging babyboomers. Skiing combined with golf are the excuse they need to broker these hugh developements, these poorly thoughtout interwest style developments. I believe there are 20 ski areas in Europe with 2000meters or more of vert.

explain please. I thought it had actually worked out fine. Except that you seem to have alot of fags in the country side saying . "wolfs, oh my god won't anyone think of the children.."

There is a differnce here in that Mt MacKenzie is "in " a town , houses at base , local hill on lower section, large cat operation at top, fair sized motel infrastructure in town used mostly in summer.
Jumbo , a resort that many here are opposed to, on the other hand is middle of wilderness.

Thats not saying there are not impacts. There are grizzly bears on Mt. Mackenzie. The Cat operation will move so that takes up space. But with this devolpment the town has been a big part of it. Limits on how many beds on hill compared to town.

    Mt MAckenzie is center left

If development is going to occur, which seems inevitable, that appears to be a reasonable place for it, considering the town is already there and the mountain is already used for skiing.

    But, wow, beautiful place.
