    damn its deep!

just got back from making some laps..and damn, it was almost too deep to turn! Had to get on the steeper slopes to actually move. most of the time it was about 20"...with wind drifts easily 35-40". Deepest day this year. And more is on the way!

i like the snow, but it sure does put a damper on some of the more exciting tours. reids peak will have to wait.

It started nuking up there at 10.30 this morning. After we left another 4" fell overnight.

Still...stuff is too deep for anything low angle, ie...under 30 degrees. We were still straight running most of the slopes this morning just to keep speed.
Might head up to the Beav one more time before they open..which I heard form Ted is Tuesday. The snow that falls over night will be great on the recently groomed slopes...on top of soft cord!!

I'll wait and hear the report from Toby and see what they found today. Providence would be fun! But that would call for a 4 hour plus long trek to ski some sketchy terrain through the firs and aspen. But i bet we could kick off some large cornices and see if some large avy's rip

kicking cornices = my second favorite activity in snow. Kicked off a mack truck sized cornice last year that riped out an entire bowl (Monitor) Good thing I roped in to a tree! Wish I had vid.

    Stoy,

Is it turning into an upside down snowpack with the light density that fell monday, now the warm temps, etc?

It is 32 at my house at 7k and dumping with west winds. 1000 feet lower it is 34-35 degrees and the roads are clear.

What are you planning for tomorrow? I'm up for anything. I am going up Swan Flat later today to check it out.

i haven't been out yet today, but am thinking of waiting till friday to tour. this stuff is going to be tricky to navigate around here. i'll hookup my helmet cam and stomp out a few cornices then. it'll be a day to wear a rope for sure.

next week is the mini, right? are you still down to get reids on friday or do you have some touring planed with some of the out of towners?

    edit to clarify reids 12-17-04

    Arrow

    Rope up, fellas.

The winds have been howling up top and I have seen a few loaded slopes crack & slab inbounds after patrol did their ski cuts this morning.

I'm thinkin' the TNT & artillery is gonna be used liberally tomorrow morning.

I only have plans with iskibc, but if Reids is doable that day, then we are going to Reids. End of story. I'm sure iskibc would be into that.

    Team of three.
